Cons
As marble is a metamorphosed limestone and low on hardness, develops
scratch easily. It needs sealing to reduce stains and scratches.

Pros –
Hard and beautiful, these stones are available in attractive colors, and
granular and crystal patterns. Harder due to presence of quartz, scratches
and stains are difficult to form on these surfaces.
Cons –
Even though granite is tough, it needs sealing and maintenance as it can
absorb stain. It may react with ultraviolet light and look dull. Granite may
emit little amount of radon gas too.

Pros –
Soapstones are non-porous and resistant to stains. They are smooth and
easy maintainable surfaces, which would not stain easily. Scratches may

As soapstones comprise talc, they can easily get scratched. They develop
patina over the time and may look dull, or may break or crack.

Pros –

installing it in bathroom is not recommended. Clean it regularly and keep

Cons –

scratches. On exposure to acids they react and get damaged.

Pros –
Travertine looks bold and trendy, wherever used. Installation and repairing it
is easy. The stone is environmental friendly as it sliced and used in its natura

Cons –

regular sealing as it can react with acids and get damaged easily.
