Ben Hampe, known as "The Professor" or "The Elf", is a Grammy-nominated music producer, engineer, and artist representative who has returned to the Philadelphia area after spending time in Tampa. Hampe has over 40 years of experience in the music industry, having worked with artists like Roberta Flack, The Allman Brothers, and Ray Charles. He is currently co-owner of JHS Records and looking to take on new projects in the Philadelphia music scene.

It’s Christmas 2011 & the gift of music has arrived right on-time: Ben ‘The Elf’
Hampe is back in the burbs & ready for any & all takers. From a full & still
unfolding career initiating at 15 as a guitarist for the never released Philly jazz
rock fusion band, Labyrinth, having opened for Roberta Flack, scored regional
commercial radio voice-over work, been a staff mechanic for an authorized
Main Line PA Ferrari dealership, drag raced handbuilts in Atco NJ, raced
SCCA, did 6-years of staff, live sound for Bill Graham Presents in San
Francisco, had even inexplicably been just handed the keys to run an off-
season ski-lift as amphitheatre in North Carolina (erroneously cited in their
local press as bassist for the Grateful Dead instead of guitar stint & booking
w/Kingfish LOL) did tons of live sound & tour management including 220 live
dates w/a brim of FM classic rock headliners – “I still can’t sleep while the
sun’s up” says the engaging, focused impresario who considers the recording
studio his “…playground, my favorite place to be” all while taking time to
making bud’s with S.F. CA’s chapter of the Hell’s Angels along the way.
Hampe whose affable, jovial motto seems to be an endearing & durable, “Life’s
too short” credo could only be halted by another force of nature – an Icelandic
Volcano that effectively tripped-up global northern hemisphere traffic &
commerce when it blew its’ top this past winter, “Even Lady Gaga couldn’t
move her tour buses” – Ben suffered a similar fate w/a cancelled 22 date USA
Tour - a confidentiality agreement prohibits naming names while arbitration
settlement continues. Ever timely, Bjork’s homeland braces with continued
concern over non-Ben Hampe seismic activity (BBC – National Geographic)
w/Katla this year or 2012’s impending glacial volcano-of-the-century
w/catastrophic flooding potential.
From the profane to the sacred & back again. Between writing “Mr. Racism” for
the no less controversial, Blowfly (Clarence Reid) doing live sound for Ray
Charles, Alannah “Black Velvet” Myles, The Allman Brothers & others in the
southeastern states, engineered-mixed-mastered-produced The Legendary Blue
Notes “White Christmas” on KYW3 in Philly. 1997-’98-’98 saw 3 Grammy entry
Nominations as Producer of the Year including remastering the groundbreaking

2. Jubilee Gospel sound of The Dixie Hummingbirds netting a Letterman show
w/Stevie Wonder & Paul Simon plus a 30” ABC Nightline Special in BH’s own
former Manayunk & Lower Merion Studios. (Formerly Solutions Entertainment
& Records, Inc.)
Today Ben Hampe’s co-owned JHS Records - an acronym for himself, Peter &
Gerald Jackson & the late, Leonard Stanford’s current, multi-genre roster has
immediate access to the Big 4 major labels for global distribution includes
reggae talent, Paris & the Birds of Paradise and the power trio blues rock,
Bruce Wacker Band. A few slots are pending talent securing appropriate
funding. JHS does its’ own A&R. Emblematic of the diplomacy of Ben
Franklin, “To avoid competition won’t have more than one of any given style
on-board” declares the firm but fair, been there, done that mustachioed

Of note, Mr. Hampe had cut a full album on Clifford Adams w/Kool & The
Gang & special guests: Omar Hakeem & WahWah Guitar Watson for JHS Rec’s
that forced a still unresolved conflict of interest as the chartbusters self
released the product out-of-contract and title change, interweb downloads
citing Hampe as engineer-only.
Stop over’s for Ben who writes, plays - preferring an SG or Les Paul
recreationally, has worked as a Behavioral Cognitive Therapist specializing in
Dual Diagnosis including a few not disclosed A-listers, also can run a different
type of crew - maintaining licensure as an insured to 2 million hi-end home
remodeling contractor.
Ask him about his yet unpublished children’s book about dragons & wizards, a
cleverly metaphoric image of self revealing fear vs. love based actions & their
consequences, conquering conflict head-on.
Or about Hampe’s ability to professionally attract investors.
Neo-soulfully, Ben ‘The Elf’ (!) had in fact been interim Chief Operating Officer
at the globally recognized Kajem Recording Studios before selling to the
manager of Autotune’s BFF’s, Boyz II Men. “It was an interesting experience”
says Hampe
Other highlights included his operation of E-motion Video w/Comcast as a
client, assembled AV internship programs off campus for the University of the
Arts & Drexel A/V depts. & 3 years on the Philly Music Convention spoken
word circuit, Video, and Record Production and labels, Industry.

3. While in Florida the past several months he’s produced, mixed all new versions
of “Doing the Zombie” and “Get it While its Hot” in behalf of Eddie Davis Music
and co-shares publishing with Eddie on the releases. Also completed 4 tunes
with JAHFARI (reggae) for Jamaica and shopping in USA. Working on “house”
with “Blu” a recognized heavy weight in England and being sought to mix a
MCA Nashville number back south bringing his signature “live” sound to the
crossover project and consulting for “The Philly Sound Project” documentary
film as well.
