INTODUCTION
• Airtel is a name that connects India with millions of people all over
the world with millions of people in India. Today, this telecom giant
is amongst the most trusted telecommunication brands in the
world. The company’s modest journey from a regional operator
limited to the city of Delhi to second largest mobile operator in the
Asia pacific region is nothing short of inspiring
• Airtel is the world’s 3rd largest mobile telecommunication Indian
MNC operating in 20 countries across Asia & Africa. Airtel has
presence in 22 telecom circles across India & is India’s largest
integrated telecom service provider.
HISTORY
• From the humble beginnings in the Indian telecom industry in 1986;
Airtel has its roots in Bharti telecom limited. Founded in 1986
by Sunil Bharti Mittal, the company was the first in India to offer
push button telephones, when the rest of the country was still using
rotary phones.
• The first partnership they had was with Siemens AG of Germany, and
they started making push-button landlines in India rather than
importing it from Taiwan, as it used to be before.

SECRETARY
• Company Secretary shall act as the Secretary of the Committee.
MEETINGS
• The Committee shall meet at least four times a year. The time gap
between any two meetings shall be less than 4 months.
BOARD COMMITTEES
Key Functions
• Oversight of the Company's financial reporting process and the
disclosure of its financial information, to ensure that the financial
statements are true and accurate and provide sufficient information.
• Recommending to the Board, the appointment, re-appointment and,
if required, the replacement or removal of the statutory auditor and
the fixation of their audit fees.
• Approval of payment to statutory auditors for any other services
rendered by the statutory auditors
• Reviewing, with the management, the quarterly financial
statements before submission to the board for approval.
• Reviewing, with the management, performance of statutory and
internal auditors, adequacy of the internal control systems.
• Approve the appointment, re-appointment and removal of chief
financial officer of the company.
• Reviewing, with the management, the quarterly financial

SEGMENTATION, TARGETING, POSITIONING IN THE MARKETING
STRATEGY OF AIRTEL
• Airtel uses mix of segmentation strategies to segment its offerings
like basic call /SMS plans, prepaid / post-paid plans, VAS – data,
caller tunes etc. Apart from geographically segmenting the market
in east, west, north, south & central, the market is also segmented
in each region on the basis of demographic variables like age,
income, social groups.
• Different geographic regions are handled independently and
different campaigns are run according to the preferences of people
in each region. Airtel has targeted the generation of 15-25 ages

through education, use of technology and information and best
practice sharing Bharti Foundation has established itself the goals of
improving accessibility and quality of education at the school level
for underprivileged children, and to provide education and training
opportunities to youth.
