This document analyzes crosses made by FC Bayern Munich during the 2015-2016 season to evaluate factors that influence the outcome. Distances between opposition defenders were measured and compared for successful, partially successful, and failed crosses. Successful crosses tended to have larger distances between defenders, exposing gaps that Bayern could exploit with overloading passes. Partially successful crosses also exposed defenders but Bayern's positioning was less optimal. Failed crosses originated closer to the box with more compact defending. The document concludes spacing between defenders significantly impacts cross outcomes, and location and transition state also influence success.
