2. Why would I want to batch recategorize One of the steps the casual contributor will often skip in the question asking process is the categorization step. When this happens their question is added to the “ Uncategorized “ category. This procedure will allow you to move many questions to a chosen category en-masse.

3. Click Search at the top of the page click here

4. Type your search criteria into the box. I used Toyota here so that all makes and models would be moved to the main Toyota category. This is faster and easier than moving each Toyota model one at a time into its sub-category.

5. The line below the search box reads ‘Show all questions in all categories’; click “all categories.”

6. Expand the category tree by clicking the plus sign (+).

7. Click “Deselect all,” then expand Miscellaneous and check “Uncategorized.” 2 3 1

8. Click “OK.” Then click “Search questions.” 2 1

9. Click “Recategorize.” Review all the questions to make sure they all should be moved to the same destination.

10. Click “Select all.” If any questions need to be excluded, click on each one and the shading will be removed.

11. Then expand the tree until you find your target category.

12. Use left click and hold on the blue shaded questions. “Drag and Drop” them into the proper category.

13. Choose “Replace.” You will always use this on uncategorized questions; use “Add” when the original category should be kept in addition to the new one you choose.

14. Choose “Continue.” This is your last chance to quit before the move is made.

15. The move has been made. Repeat the steps until all pages have been moved. Then, since there aresub-categories to deal with, click on “New search.”

16. Search category will be Toyota; type one of the sub-category topics into the search window and click “Search.”

17. Drag and Drop into the sub-category.

18. Choose “Add.” Both categories will be associated with these questions.

19. Click “Continue.” Repeat until all questions are moved, then repeat for all other sub-categories you need to move questions into.
