occur?
• Two physical mechanisms
account for roughly half of all
injuries:
– Collisions with another player
– Jumping and landing
4. Causes of Basketball Injuries
• Lack of conditioning
– strength, agility, and endurance
• Overuse injuries
– players push their bodies too hard without allowing
enough time for rest and recovery.
• Poor technique
– put unnecessary strain on joints and muscles, leading
to injury.

• Wearing appropriate gears
– well-fitting supportive shoes with non-skid bottoms- good traction (grip)
and high tops with ankle support.
– necessary padding or braces to protect vulnerable areas like your ankles and
knees.

– maintaining good posture, using the correct form when
shooting and passing, and avoiding sudden movements that
could put strain on your joints.

• Protection:
– Using crutches, boot or splint to limit use in more severe cases may be needed, but in
most case may not be needed as one thought.

– 15-20-minutes to reduce pain & swelling.

– Avoid putting the ice directly on the swollen area
