2. Basketball is a sport that is played with a group. On the court,
there are two teams with five players on each one. The goal of
each team is to throw the ball in to the opposite teams basket.
The winner is the team with the highest score. The game is
fifty minutes long. It is divided in to four quarters of ten
minutes each whit a ten minute break between the second and
third quarter. The F.I.B.A is the international organization
that sets the rules for this sport. The most famous national
organization is the NBA in the United States.
3. Practice, practice, practice! One way that
you can get better at basketball is to go to
the gym a few times a week. Also, run
everyday to be in good shape!
4. Be sure to practice shooting from
everywhere on the court.
5. Definately do not forget to stretch! This is
one of the key elements in preventing
injuries.
6. Play your best at every game. If you don't,
chances are that you will not get any
better.
7. Play with somebody better than you,
every chance you get. This will only help
you get better.
8. If there are any teams in your area, sign
up! Practicing in the gym will help a lot,
but being on a team is even better.
9. If you make your high-school team it will
give you an advantage so that you can get
in to a collage team. (This will greatly
increase your chance of being drafted into
the NBA.)
10. Do not forget about physical strength. It is
necessary to build muscle, so you can
enhance your field goal ability and boost
your stamina.
11. Be a leader and team player, both on and
off the court.
12. On the court, use every skill you have to
your advantage.
13. Do not get involved with the wrong
people. Especially do not under any
circumstances do drugs.
