What is Core Switch?
A core switch is the network switch installed at the backbone of the layered or hierarchy network.
It is routing and data switching at the core layer of the network.
Three Hierarchical Inter-Networking Design
Three hierarchical inter-networking design consists of core, distribution, and access layers. A core
layer switch functions as a backbone switch for LANWAN access and centralizes multiple
aggregation devices to the core. The distribution layer switch ensures that the packets are routed
between subnets and VLANs in networking. The access layer switch facilitates the connection of
end-node devices, such as APs and wired devices, to the network.
In these three layers, the core switch requires most highly in the switch performance. Core switch
