Barack Obama is the current President of the United States. He was born in Hawaii in 1961 and was the first African American president. Obama graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was president of the Harvard Law Review. He worked as a civil rights attorney and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago. Obama served as a Senator from Illinois from 2005 to 2008 before being elected President. Some of his major accomplishments as President include economic recovery efforts, reducing troops levels in Iraq, and increasing troops levels in Afghanistan.
