Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz PC has merged with the Orlando law firm
of Litchford & Christopher Professional Association, giving the firm its first foothold in
Florida.
It marks the firm’s second expansion this fall: It announced a merger in October with the
Houston-based firm Spain Chambers, also giving it its first Texas presence. As with the
Texas merger, Litchford & Christopher will now operate under the Baker Donelson name,
according to a news release.
Memphis-based Baker Donelson gains six attorneys through the merger, bringing it to a
total of 620 attorneys in 18 offices, spread across seven states and Washington, D.C.
"Once again, the motivation for this latest move into a new market is our clients," said
Ben C. Adams, chairman and CEO of Baker Donelson. "With a presence in Orlando, we
can broaden the representation and services that we provide to our numerous clients who
do business in Florida, particularly in the areas of health care, financial services and
commercial mortgage backed securities.
Baker Donelson is Memphis' largest with 105 local attorneys.
The Florida acquisition is the firm's third this year. In addition to the Houston office, it also
added a Montgomery, Ala., office in April.
Litchford & Christopher is a litigation firm with experience in disputes involving antitrust
and trade regulation law, corporate control, financial and securities fraud, intellectual
property litigation, real property claims and mortgage foreclosures, partnership dissolution
and creditors' rights in bankruptcy. It also maintains a corporate and real estate
transactional practice.
