1) The document compares the financial statements and ratios of GAP Inc. and ANF Co. over 2007 fiscal year across several metrics including liquidity, asset utilization, profitability, and valuation.
2) The analysis shows that ANF outperformed GAP in key metrics such as return on net operating assets (RNOA), return on capital employed (ROCE), earnings per share (EPS), and implied stock valuation.
3) Based on the financial analysis, the conclusion is to SELL/HOLD GAP stock and BUY ANF stock.

Kenneth Lay founded Enron in 1985 in Omaha, Nebraska as a natural gas company. Under Lay and other executives like Jeffrey Skilling and Andrew Fastow, Enron grew dramatically to become the sixth largest energy company by 2000 through development of power plants and pipelines. However, revelations in late 2001 showed Enron had been using special purpose entities to hide debt and inflate profits, leading to its bankruptcy filing on December 2, 2001 and collapse. Thousands of employees lost their jobs and investors lost billions in the resulting scandal.
The document discusses Enron's rise and fall and the causes of its corporate scandal. It summarizes how Enron grew rapidly through the 1990s by evolving its business model to focus on energy trading and contracts. However, cracks began to emerge in 2001 as Enron restated earnings and losses came to light. Enron filed for bankruptcy in December 2001 after it was revealed that special purpose entities were used to hide debt and losses. The failures of corporate governance mechanisms like the board, executives, and auditors allowed improper accounting practices that inflated financial reports and hid Enron's true financial situation.
Group members were assigned topics to research about Enron. Yan Chen covered the introduction, providing background on Enron's achievements and rapid growth into a global energy giant. Yao Chen discussed Enron's business model and trading operations. Yipeng Chen analyzed Enron's accounting fraud and deception. Li Ye concluded by discussing the impact of the scandal, including Arthur Andersen's involvement and the subsequent Sarbanes-Oxley financial reforms. The document provided an overview of Enron's history from its rise to prominence to its collapse in an accounting scandal due to unethical business practices and misleading financial reporting.
