Personal Narrative It was the year of 2013, I was going into 4th grade and school was just a month away. But it wasn t the 4th grade that I was looking forward to, because my family was moving to a small town in Wisconsin named Mosinee. I grew up in a suburb just on the outskirts of the great city known as Chicago. Richland and Wilkin County residents, and a visitor, were asked
What are you looking forward to in 2017
and what will you remember about 2016?
Completing the ‘Cemetery Stories.’ I’m working
on Wahpeton’s Riverside and Moore Cemeteries as
well. We’ve got Volume 2 done and now there will
be Volume 3. There’s so much history out there.
Some of the early residents are there.”
Janet Gagelin
“
Finishing high school and graduating. …
This was the first year I voted in
a presidential election.”
Alex Krack
“ I’m most looking forward to the new year,
starting over and not having to think about
what happened in 2016 that I did not like.”
Eveline McKenzie
“
Wahpeton having a prosperous new year and I’m
hoping the city, community development organi-
zations and people here can make some exciting
things happen in their community. … I think this
year’s election cycle was probably the biggest
thing in my lifetime. It was rather unique.”
Dan Rood Jr.
“
I just started selling insurance, so I’m looking
forward to the new opportunity and to helping
people in the community. … I have a two year old
son, Hunter. This year has just been a lot of fun.
That age is a lot of fun (for a kid). And I had a
huge career change. I went from being the direc-
tor at Tiny Tykes child care to selling insurance.
It was quite a life change.”
Kelsey Weight
“
For 2017, it’s honestly the unknown of what could
possibly happen. I like change. Not everybody
likes change. Change is a good thing. I’ll embrace
it. I’ll look forward to that kind of thing, to see
what could happen in my future. … I’m going to
school at Mayville State, getting all those
classes done. I want to spend more time
with family members.”
Mitch Ronan
“Finishing the restrooms in Chahinkapa Park.
We’ll see the new zebra building and get the new
walking paths in. It will be nice to see that
all come back. There’ll be a whole new
look to the zoo.”
Roger Jensen
“
Having a great summer, recovering from my foot
injury and getting back on my feet fully.”
Karen Field
“
I’m going to be a grandma. My son, Caleb, got
married last summer. I have four boys, I finally
have a daughter-in-law, Jacie. I’m going to have a
granddaughter. It’s a little extra exciting, because
it’s like (we have) a world of boys. We have an
exciting spring coming up … (the birth) will
probably be in April.”
Rebekah Christensen
“
“ I’m looking forward to warmer weather. No ice, warmer weather.”
