Molte aziende hanno costruito negli anni sistemi informatici complessi che gestiscono i processi interni e i processi di gestione i clienti/fornitori. Con il cambiamento delle abitudini dei consumatori quello che una volta si faceva intermediato da un agente, commesso o addetto che usava il sistema gestionale per rispondere alla richiesta del cliente ora si fa in modalità self service semplicemente con uno smartphone, il cliente si aspetta di essere autonomo nel rapporto con l’azienda. L’esperienza che ci si aspetta come consumatore è quella che si vive usando piattaforma native digitali come ad esempio Netflix e Spotify. Il problema è che la maggior parte delle aziende non è partita nativamente digitale e non è possibile azzerare tutto e ripartire da capo senza correre rischi di business continuity importanti che vedono milioni di clienti coinvolti e impatti significativi a livello economico in caso di down. Se non è possibile ripartire da zero, quindi come fare? Una risposta è un approccio graduale di evoluzione architetturale e tecnologica dove Kubernetes, e il suo ecosistema, giocano un ruolo chiave. In questa presentazione vedremo i tre principi cardine sulla quale si basa questa strategia: API as a Product; architetture evolutive; fast data con pattern CQRS; che si uniscono per creare una strategia di Modernizzazione delle Applicazioni utilizzando i componenti dell’ecosistema del landscape CNCF (https://landscape.cncf.io). Da qui capiremo quali siano i benefici nel breve, medio e lungo termine e quali passi iniziare a fare per avviare questa strategia.

Il webinar presenterà la cloud federata GARR e i servizi che offre alla comunità dell’università e della ricerca. Il seminario sarà l’occasione per illustrare concretamente come ottenere ed utilizzare i servizi e in che modo le organizzazioni che fanno parte della comunità GARR possano partecipare mettendo in comune le proprie risorse. Il servizio di Cloud Computing federato realizzato da GARR è disponibile da qualche settimana all'indirizzo cloud.garr.it. ed è stato sviluppato per rispondere alle esigenze della comunità della ricerca e dell’istruzione emerse nel corso di una consultazione pubblica condotta nei mesi scorsi. Attualmente sono disponibili servizi IaaS (Macchine Virtuali e Virtual Datacenter) e PaaS (self-service deployment di applicazioni cloud). Con il servizio di Virtual Datacenter un’organizzazione può ottenere una determinata quantità di risorse di calcolo e storage da gestire in autonomia,suddividendole tra progetti e assegnandole ai propri utenti, esattamente come se disponesse di una propria infrastruttura cloud. Il servizio di self-service deployment, permette agli utenti di installare pacchetti che compongono applicazioni cloud complete.Ad esempio, il pacchetto “Moodle in the Cloud”, consente con un click di installare in modo automatico tutto quanto serve per mettere in esercizio sul cloud un sito di e-learning basato su Moodle. Circa 200 pacchetti sono già disponibili ed altri possono essere sviluppati e condivisi da GARR stesso o dalla comunità di utilizzatori, a supporto di attività di formazione e scientifica, ad esempio per la realizzazione di laboratori didattici o progetti di ricerca. La piattaforma e i servizi sono basati su tecnologie open source e in particolare su OpenStack, la piattaforma cloud più diffusa e sostenuta da una comunità di oltre 40.000 sviluppatori. Le macchine virtuali possono utilizzare sistemi operativi sia Linux che Windows. Una specificità della cloud GARR è la sua architettura federata, aperta alla partecipazione da parte di gruppi o istituzioni, che possono attivare una regione della cloud e mettere a disposizione le proprie risorse attraverso un’operazione semplice e guidata. Questo approccio vuole favorire la nascita di una comunità di utenti e specialisti che condividano esperienze nell'ambito del cloud computing.

Cloud & No-Coding: come fare su Azure?

Ti hanno sempre detto che per creare dei processi bisogna scrivere codice?! Nel corso di questa live cercherò di mostrarvi come, grazie all'utilizzo di Azure Logic Apps, potete cominciare a crearli in modalità No-Code. Le Azure Logic App sono un servizio offerto da Microsoft e presente sul proprio cloud: tramite una serie di "blocchi" potrete definire flussi, controlli e connettori semplicemente con un click da interfaccia visuale. Non dovrete scrivere del codice (se non poco e in modalità guidata) per raggiungere il vostro obiettivo! Non passerò il tempo della live con tutta teoria. Vi mostrerò come creare, costruire , modificare e "sbagliare" una Logic App. Poco dopo, vi mostrerò una mia Logic App che opera su OneDrive introducendo in questo modo il concetto dei connettori per accedere a sistemi diversi. Certo, sicuramente quello che vedremo un programmatore lo può scrivere via codice. Però perché escludere la possibilità di raggiungere certi obiettivi non utilizzando la programmazione?! Questo non vuol dire che il mondo del coding e quello delle Logic Apps siano incompatibili. Possono interagire benissimo tra di loro ed essere scambiati a piacere! Ora – se volete conoscere il No-Code su Azure – non vi resta che unirvi alla live per avere una visione alternativa (e per tutti) alla programmazione.

A key challenge we face at Pacmed is quickly calibrating and deploying our tools for clinical decision support in different hospitals, where data formats may vary greatly. Using Intensive Care Units as a case study, I’ll delve into our scalable Python pipeline, which leverages Pandas’ split-apply-combine approach to perform complex feature engineering and automatic quality checks on large time-varying data, e.g. vital signs. I’ll show how we use the resulting flexible and interpretable dataframes to quickly (re)train our models to predict mortality, discharge, and medical complications.
