The Rotary Club of Corona held various events in July and August, including a trip to the Del Mar Races. Kevin Button thanked members for their help starting the new Rotary year. The club's goals for the 2016-17 year include fundraising for the Rotary Foundation and local projects, as well as youth programs, international work, and growing membership. The District Governor's message encouraged clubs to think about how attractive and welcoming they are to visitors.

We had a great time at the Del Mar Races on July 27th. The day
started off with a fun bus ride which included tasty spirts. When we
arrived we enjoyed a great lunch and lessons in horse picking from
David Reed and Ross Newhan. Thanks go to John Knaak, Ross
Newhan, and John Milner for putting the day together. Make sure
you join us for next year’s trip!

Dear Rotarians,
It has been a great start to the new rotary year and I wanted to thank all of you for your help in
making this happen. The President’s Dinner was a great success and everyone enjoyed the
Bibimbap and Seaweed soup. We will be working hard this year to raise funds for the Rotary Inter-
national Foundation as well as our own Foundation so we can do more to aid the community. With
your help we will meet the goals I have set for the club.
This year I have started a new program called the Rotarian of the Month. It was an honor to award
Glen Fletcher the first award as the Rotarian of the Month for July. Each Rotarian of the Month
will receive a pin and free lunch for the month. It is my honor to award Richard Gonzales the Au-
gust Rotarian of the Month for all his work he does with the Allocations Committee and Lobster-
fest. Thank you Richard for your service to the Corona Rotary Club!!!
If you have any suggestions for projects or events you would like to see our club become involved
in this year, please feel free to email me. I look forward to serving you as your President this year.
Let’s make this an exceptionally fun year!!
Yours in Service,
Kevin Button
