2. What is audio-visual entrainment?
Audio-visual entrainment (AVE) is a technique in which light flash into the
eyes while audio tones are presented into the ears.
Normally the frequencies of the lights and tones are presented in the most
common brain frequencies, ranging from to 1 to 40 Hz.
3. AVE has beneficial effects on physiology
and cognitive traits
-Effects on mood disorders, depression, tensión and hysterua has been prooved.
-Photic stimulation is able to induce alpha rhythm in the occipital lobe of the
brain.
4. The Brianwave synchronizer
The BWS was the first electronic photic stimulator and was used to provide
analgesia to woman in labor and as an aid to general anesthesia un surgery.
5. AVE and neuroransmitter systems
AVE is able to induce changes in neurotransmitter levels, which could improve
better cognitive performance and better mood.
6. AVE acts on the brain principally on the
thalamus nucleus
All sensory information, except of smell must pass through the thalamus to
gain access intro other brain regions
AVE would also act in the thalamus nucleus to
induce changes in the brain activity in the main
sensory and motor areas of the brain.
7. Effects of AVE in physiology
AVE can improve anxiety and adrenal fatigue and also can rise serotonin,
norepinephrine, serotonin, endorphin and melatonin levels after a 10Hz White
light photic stimulation.
Cerebral blood flow has also been demonstrated to increase after AVE and this
coul improove mood disorders as anxiety, depression, and attentional and
behavioral deficits.
