Three rising rugby stars from Newcastle University, Will Witty, George Cullen and Joe Beckett, have been selected to play for the England Students rugby team against Wales. Oran defeated Tulsk 3-10 to 2-11 in the semi-final of the George Bannon Sportswear Intermediate Football Championship. Oran started strongly, taking a 2-7 to 0-6 lead at half-time thanks to goals from Gearoid Keegan and Mark Gunning. Tulsk fought back in the second half through goals from Jack Conlon and Kieran Donoghue to level the score. The decisive score came late on when Jack Earley scored a goal from a Mark Gunning assist to secure Oran's victory. While Tulsk pushed them close, Oran held on to advance to the final and put prior championship disappointments behind them.
