Minneapolis Apartment Buildings Site of AT&T Trial
AT&T is trialing its multi-
dwelling unit fixed wireless
point-to-point Millimeter Wave
technology in Minneapolis.
First-of-its-kind trial that uses a
combination of wired and
wireless network technologies.
Gives AT&T the potential to
reach a new customer base in
our non-wireline states.
Technology currently offers
internet speeds up to
100Mbps, and we expect to
reach a speed tier of 500 Mbps.

AT&T Launches Project AirGig
Transformative technology
Last fall, AT&T unveiled Project AirGig, a
transformative technology from AT&T Labs that could
one day deliver low-cost, multi-gigabit wireless
internet speeds using power lines.
One of the most ambitious and inventive projects in
AT&T Labs history.
AT&T has over 200 patents and patent applications for
Project AirGig and we plan to begin field trials in 2017.
The idea: where there are power lines, there can be
broadband.
Results from our outdoor labs testing have been
encouraging, especially as you think about where
weāre heading in a 5G world.

AT&T Network Investments in 272 Minnesota Communities (2016)

AUM Cardiovascular
AT&T has partnered with Northfield-
Minnesota based medical device company
out of Northfield to use our Internet of
Things (IoT) technology to make
advancements in health care.
AUM Cardiovascular uses IoT global
technology provided by AT&T to deliver
diagnostic test results to patients in about
10 minutes to help rule out coronary artery
blockages.
The company uses a high-tech device called
CADence to assess heart, lung and gut
sounds. Itās portable, and can be used
anywhere a cell phone tower is accessible.
AT&Tās Internet of Things Global Technology
When it comes to small cells helping us provide a better experience by safely bringing the network ācloserā to its users, think of it like this:
Ā
You are working in an urban downtown area. A little under a mile away on the outskirts of downtown is where the tall macro cell responsible for providing connectivity to your devices is located. That is quite a distance for the wireless signal to travel.
But, by deploying small cells to the tops or sides of buildings, light poles, lamp posts, etc. in the downtown area, that signal is safely transmitted from the small cells and then directly to your device.
By bringing the network ācloserā to its users, small cells deliver increased data capacity, faster connectivity speeds and an overall better wireless experienceāallowing us to better meet consumer and business demands today while preparing the network for tomorrowās technologies and innovations.
This slide has a few different examples of small cells and where they can be placed. As you may notice, the antennae on these solutions are significantly smaller than the ones you typically see on poles or rooftops today.
