Research in Nursing: A Guide to Understanding Research Designs and TechniquesAJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT : Nurses like any other professionals are expected to participate in research studies since nursing
is a science that is fast evolving. Research in nursing paves the way for high quality, evidence-based nursing
care. Findings from research highly informs quality nursing practice. Nursing practice needs to be research
based; hence, it is worth commending that all nurses understand research techniques and designs and be
involved in research. However, some bedside nurses are not aware of the relationship between research and the
quality of care provided to patients. Such nurses need to be aware of the importance of research in nursing and
get on board. There are different types of research designs and methods, and the type of design employed for a
particular study will determine the methods to be used for that study. Generally, the different types of study
designs include experimental and non-experimental research designs which can be used according to the need to
answer many questions in the field of nursing. Thus, this paper gives an overview of research designs and
methods in order to provide novice nurses with the basics of research methodology. This istoensure that nurses
have an understanding of the research process and participate in research activities. This will in turn ensure that
quality care which is evidenced-based is rendered to all patients.

Introduction
Evaluation of the program is usually done to in order to determine the quality of the program, how effective the program is and how the program is performing. This can help to know if the program is making a significant difference among the targeted people. It can also assist to know if the program is functioning or not. This paper therefore seeks to evaluate the program which is assisting the homeless people within the community.
The two program evaluation questions are: what is the reach of the program? And what has been the impact of the program on the homeless people? The answers to these questions would elicit both qualitative and quantitative results. Therefore, the program evaluation will require both quantitative and qualitative data collection plan. This is because the use of mixed-method approach is convenient since the results and findings would be reliable (Creswell, 2017). After identifying the evaluation program questions, the next step will be to come up with plan of evaluating a program. The plan should consist of methods of collecting data, evidences, the person responsible and the duration.

Population and Sampling
The constructs of population and sampling are integral to all research undertakings. Populations refer to a complete set of elements, whether persons or objects, that possess some common characteristics defined by the sampling criteria established by the researcher(Han,2019). The number of elements in the populations reflects the size of the population. Populations can fall into either target populations or accessible populations. The targeted population for this research study will consist investment leaders from capital investment companies in the northeast of U.S , who have a least 5 years experiences in the industry and implanted strategies to increase investment return, and investment performance.
The population is a collection of individuals from which researchers develop their sample research study(Han, 2019). Researchers must ensure the targeted population to be accessible; selecting an inaccessible population could potentially affect the scholar's ability to collect data(Binde & Romild, 2019). Aligning the population with the research question allows researchers to collect data from strategic investment decision making leaders from capital investment industry in northeast region of the U.S ,who met the criteria from the research study. Hence, providing enough data is a precursor to credible analysis and reporting to determine an adequate sample size that has a direct relation with data saturation. However, the quantity is not the determining factor when it comes to data saturation; the quality of the data must align with the research study(Binde & Romild, 2019).
Sampling refers to the process of selecting a sample from a population of interest so that a researcher can fairly generalize the results gained from these participants to the population from which the researcher obtained the sample(Wei et al,2019). There are different types of sampling techniques that researchers can utilize during their investigations, which broadly fall into probability and non-probability sampling(Wei et al ,2019). Some of the most notable probability sampling techniques include simple random sampling, stratified sampling, clustered sampling, and systematic sampling (Han, 2019).
Thu, on the contrary, non-probability sampling techniques include convenience sampling, purposive sampling, quota sampling, and snowball sampling. The main difference between a sample and a population has to do with the manner in which the researcher assigns observations to the data set(Binde & Romild, 2019). A population includes all the elements from a data set, whereas a sample consists of one or more observations derived from the population. The constructs of population and sampling can indeed find direct application in my doctoral research study. I will use purposive sample to compute the correct sample size from the population that can make the findings easy to generalize to the wider population.
In selecting samples during my research endea ...
A Study on Influences of Organizational Culture at Golden Cashew Products, Po...ijtsrd
The main purpose of the study is to provide an impact over the organizational culture experienced by the employees. Organizational culture is a set of attitude and behavior adopted by the employees in the organization by various situations. Job satisfactions are related to the perceptions of their working environment. The main objective of the study is to find the significant difference between organizational culture and job satisfaction. Also, to retain the talented and efficient workforce in the organization and also to improve the organizational growth and environment. The study employed with stratified random sampling method. This research work is a survey to make use of sample about 80 employees drawn from the population of 100 employees. The major source of data used in this study is primary data and secondary data is collected by using questionnaire method. The research observed in the study is, there is no significant difference between the organizational culture and the job satisfaction. It is concluded that the employee job satisfaction did not play any role on how they worked in the culture that was followed by the organization. Ramya. K | Sowmia Devi. M | Sindhuja. Task 3:
Kristinas first draft research proposal
Kristina is studying for a masters degree in international business, Although she has chosen to
study overseas, she wishes to undertake her research project in her home country. She is
interested in the relationship between marketing strategy and international business and has
prepared her research proposal for an applied research project. This states that the aim of her
research project is to establish how the case study organisation (Healthy-FoodCo) can market a
dietary supplement (DietSupp) successfully in another country (OverSeasCountry). She emails
the first draft of her research proposal to her project supervisor and is surprised that he emails
back, requesting a meeting to talk through some concerns about the proposal. Below we present
an abbreviated version of the first draft of her research proposal. Please note the proposal
intentionally includes methodological, as well as spelling and grammatical, errors to allow you to
evaluate and improve it by working through the case study questions.
Title
The impact of national cultures and the marketing mix on consumer buying behaviour: A case
study of HealthyFoodCos marketing of a new diet supplement internationally.
Background (abridged)
The marketing mix is the central concept of marketing (Khan, 2014). Scholars argue that the
concept originated in the 1940s with Neil Borden (e.g. Schultz and Dev, 2012). At this point, the
concept of marketing mix was not formally defined and it was Jerome McCarthy who adapted
this concept in the 1950s into what is known as the 4Ps: product, price, place and promotion
(Schultze and Dev, 2012). Phillip Kotler then popularized the 4Ps (Schultz and Dev,2012),
which continue to be the most enduring marketing mixer framework. Each of the 4Ps may be
seen to be a controllable element that an organisation may use to formulate and implement a
marketing strategy that is adapted to the environment within which their target market exists
(Dadzie et alia 2017). The intention here is to influence customer buying behaviour favourably
towards the product being marketed.
However, as main critique surr.
The three qualitative evaluation methods identified by McDavid & H.docxchristalgrieg
The three qualitative evaluation methods identified by McDavid & Huse (2013)
The three qualitative evaluation methods identified by McDavid & Huse (2013) were qualitative program evaluation, inductive approach, and holistic approach.
According to the article, Qualitative Program Evaluation Methods indicated that “qualitative methods are commonly used in evaluations in order to explore specific facets of programs and give voice to participants”. The qualitative evaluation methods can provide in-depth information that can assist in enhancing the quality of a specific program (Qualitative Program Evaluation Methods).
According to McDavid & Huse (2013) defined inductive approach, as a method that “starts with ‘the data’ namely narratives, direct and indirect (unobtrusive) observations, interactions between stakeholders and the evaluator, documentary evidence, and other sources of information, and then constructs an understanding of the program” p200.
The Holistic Approach defined by McDavid & Huse (2003) is “discovering the themes in the data, weighting them, verifying them with stakeholders, and finally, preparing a document that reports the findings and conclusions” p200.
In the article, “Measuring Change in a Short-Term Educational Program Using a Retrospective Pretest Design”, centered around the Pennsylvania Governor’s School International Studies having a summer program that gives gifted high school students a challenging introduction to the study of internal affairs. The program administrators wanted to understand the effect of the program on the student’s understanding of their knowledge surrounding the core issues (Moore & Tananis 2009). For the past four years the program administrators began using the retrospective pre-post design. The results from the pretest yielded that the students consistently overestimated their understanding of International Studies in the beginning. The program administrator found that using the “retrospective pretest items were more biases than pretest items in certain context” (Moore & Tannis 2009 p200). The authors concluded that the retrospective pretest perhaps could be the most effective way of capturing data that is accurate of pre intervention function than a pretest given before the program begins.
For this article, this learner would use the inductive approach for this article. This approach will allow the researcher and the program administrators to evaluate the program effectiveness through the data that was collected through the pretest, test that were administered throughout the course, and other data. This approach will allow for interviewing the participants throughout the five week program to determine if the students are learning and meeting the intended goal of the International Studies program. The program administrators can also observe the interactions between the participants.
For this particular study, it would be important to test the students prior to taking the course, and then co ...

3. Introduction
Background:
Organizations has always acts as per their operational scenario through which proper benefits
has been provided to the end users. Thus for providing benefitted activities, organizations
behaviour has been determined to be highly important to achieve success in the long run. This
particular research has been entailed by pertaining the identification of year of giving within
Abu Dhabi University. The considerations of year of giving has been empowered in the year
2017 by the president of United Arab Emirates by identifying the important pillars of
corporate social responsibility, proper volunteering and also serving the respective nation.
The consideration of year of giving has been intruded by providing hospitality as well as
generosity that have been laid upon identity and legacy through determining the policies that
have been established within UAE. Considering this particular effectiveness, these programs
has been intensified within ADU by determining initiatives of celebrating the virtues
considering the promotions that are highly required for individuals (Subeh, 2017).
Aims and Objectives:
In order to fetch effective research outcomes, the researcher has determined important aims
and objectives of the research have been assessed:
To assess the promotions made by ADU on strategic development by ensuring social
responsibility
To determine the promotion regarding volunteering of different cultures within ADU
To identify the innovative ideas empowered within ADU through sufficing strategies
on the consequences of the strategies regarding year of giving.
Research Questions:
In order to fulfil the research, the researcher has generated certain research questions through
facilitating the analysis, which are as follows:
How does the strategic development on behalf of the year of giving campaign measured
within ADU?
4. Literature Review
The UAE has considered the financial year 2017 as the year of giving and has sufficed the
interception by achieving sustenance on the three important factors such as corporate social
responsibility, volunteering and also serving the respective nation. The initiatives have been
launched for the respective financial year engaging the citizens of the country for entrenching
the values considering philanthropic perspectives along with altruism within the particular
community. The private segment will work durably with government establishments to help
charitable activities, including human alleviation work locally, provincially and
internationally, solidifying the UAE's position as one of the world's driving outside guide
contributors. Volunteers will be basic members in The Year of Giving, with numerous open
doors and impetuses intending to ingrain the benefit of volunteering crosswise over groups,
improving solidarity, coordinated effort, and cooperative energy. According to Al Kaabi,
(2016) the welcome provided to volunteer would reach out to people in general and private
areas, and in addition to people and organizations. There will likewise be an accentuation on
abilities based volunteering which have been focussed through an open door for people to use
and offer their particular aptitudes and gifts as volunteers. The estimation of generosity in
administration of the country is a vital piece of The Year of Giving. Youthful natives will be
welcome to find out about patriotism and partake in activities that attention on giving back to
the country. The objective is to install the estimation of generosity and selflessness in the
UAE's people group, particularly of future ages to come, in the administration of the country
(Einolf, 2017). The mutual obligation regarding these activities will be on people in general
and private segments, and on people, who can augment their probability through combined
and joint endeavours.
Framework
The review made from the different study and from this perception the understandings has
been achieved that the perspectives of year of giving that has intruded the factors considering
initiatives from social and humanitarian aspects in order to reveal success within ADU. The
mission has significantly judged through formulating comprehensive framework for the
respective charities along with other organizations, which will be continued in the future
period. Apart from this the working procedure n behalf of ADU has volunteered the aspects
of charity within the organization. In addition, the contributions within the private sector will
be revealed through enabling social responsibilities within individuals.
5. Methodology
The research has been pertained in order to fetch effective outcomes from the study made on
the year of giving sustaining the perception of Abu Dhabi University. Thus in this section, the
overall judgement considering the perspectives of how the research will be followed has been
depicted. In order to accomplish a successful research, several procedures have been
empowered through which effective synthesis of the data can be observed. Thus, the
processes have been portrayed underneath:
Research Philosophy
The research has been followed through identifying the impact of the year of giving on behalf
of ADU through intervening the factors selected upon different paradigm. It has been
ascertained that the research has been cumulated through identifying the instinct of
epistemological and phenomenological aspects. Through this perception, the research has
been progressed through generating the inference about how the subjectivism as well as
realism has been propounded for fetching proper inference of the research. Other possibility
of interpretivism as well as positivism research has been intruded. In order to identify the
purpose of year of giving generated by ADU, the researcher has revealed that positivism
research philosophy has been selected so as to compare different ideas as well as facts
generated from the overall examination (Panneerselvam, 2014).
Research Approach
The overall interpretation regarding the knowledge achieved from the research has revealed
that the two kinds of research approach are there to achieve the outcomes. The deductive
approach has implied about the overall incorporation of different testing as well as validation
considering the area of research where effective analysis has been acquired from the reviews
of past papers made by different scholars. On the other hand, the inductive research approach
has facilitated the ideas through reflecting innovative concepts and availability of advanced
theories as well as models, which will relate with the research topic for enabling effective
outcomes. Here in this respective research, deductive research approach has been affirmed as
conduction of survey as well as interviews has been availed in order t encounter effective
research outcome.
Research Design
6. Research design has encompassed the consequences through which proper integration as well
as implementation regarding the components has been examined through the research. Thus
the suitability has been derived in a rational considerations through determining higher
accuracy about interpreting the data gathered from the research. For analyzing and also
exploring the perception regarding the year of giving in the ADU has been determined with
respective research designing process. It has been assessed that different consequences
regarding the choice has intruded descriptive research design for inculcating effective
inference from the overall research. Thus, the research survey will be identified by explaining
the understandings gained at the time of pertaining the collection of data.
Research Strategy
The assessment made for determining effective research outcomes has intruded the factors by
which precise findings of the survey has been empowered. Thus in order to consider this
particular synthesis, proper research strategy has to be incorporated so as to fulfil the needs
the of the research. Generally, there are two types of research strategy has been followed.
One is the qualitative research strategy and other is the quantitative research strategy.
Qualitative research strategy has been facilitated with the reviews gathered from the past
researchers on the relevant topic that have been focussed within the research. Clear and
precise analysis of their views has been untaken in order to justify the research procedure
successfully. Moreover, the quantitative research has been materialized through generating
proper responses from the respondents gathered in pertaining the research. Proper interview
among the respondents are judged so as to ensure the feasibility of the respective survey.
Therefore, in this respective research, the clear and concise aspects of year of giving in ADU
has been revealed through following quantitative research strategy so as to ensure proper
justification regarding the survey (Flick, 2015). The respondents gathered for the survey has
been interviewed through generating research questions in for of questionnaire so as to
identify the progress of the research. The responses have been engulfed through judging the
Likert Scale which comprises rating starting from 1 to 5.
Data Collection
Data collection process has been acquired on the basis of fulfilling the analysis required for
assessing techniques perceived in sustaining the differentiations successfully. It has been
observed that for justifying the instances regarding the year of giving in ADU, the researcher
has collected primary data from the respondents in order to undertake analysis in form of
7. interview to 20 survey respondents that are generally stakeholders of the organization. On the
other hand, the secondary data has been deferred through identifying a case study considering
the aspects revealed from the derivatives of year of giving within ADU. Thus, the collected
data has been analyzed through utilizing statistical tools like MS Excel in order to examine
fruitful results.
Data Sampling
Two types of sampling techniques has been generated for assessing research outcomes. One
is probabilistic sampling and the other one is non-probabilistic sampling technique. In this
research, a non-probabilistic sampling technique has been considered in order to fetch
effective outcomes for the research.
Pilot Study
The researcher has undergone primary assessment by considering 2 respondents from the
overall respondents selected and has judged the responses by pertaining a interview session
by raising research questions in order to adhere the facts regarding the concept of year of
giving in ADU.
Research Validity
The research has been validated through the interception where all the data collected and
authentic and are from reliable sources in order to adhere a successful research outcomes.
Ethical Considerations
The researcher should possess the research by ethical means and also no false
misinterpretation has been achieved on pertaining the overall research. The researcher should
not mislead the information and data gathered from the overall investigation.
Data Analysis
Data analysis has been revealed through the activities by dint of which overall examination of
the data collected has been generated so as to find out the significance through which the
outcomes will have to be judged.
8. In order to pertain effective inferences, the researcher has interviewed the respondents which
are different stakeholders of ADU about the fact of the year of giving has been analyzed
underneath:
