Editor's Notes

  1. Picture citations- http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/09/dining/09chip.html?_r=1 (BORDER- used throughout presentation)http://www.nbafoodadvocate.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Nestle-Toll-House-Cookies-EColi.jpg
  2. More specific gift ideas discussed laterI have personal experience with this recipe being a crowd pleaser, because every time I have made them people absolutely love them!
  3. Information from http://inventors.about.com/od/wstartinventors/a/Chocolate_Chip.htmPicture from http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3514/3737611686_845297b460_o.jpg- Explain fun fact- made by accident because Ruth Wakefield thought semisweet chocolate would melt when put in the oven, but it didn’t!
  4. I always use the toll house recipe because everyone seems to love it, it is a simple recipe to follow, the brand has history, and they taste amazing!
  5. The instructions in this presentation are designed to be easily interpreted for any age (even kids with the supervision of adults). This is a quick and easy recipe that if instructions are followed carefully, should yield successful results! The temperature and bake times are provided as a guide to ensure successful results (thoroughly baked, but not burnt)This presentation will provide a list of ideas regarding where and with who you can share your creation!
  6. Picture- Clip Art- The teaspoon will be used for multiple ingredients so you may need to wash it in between!- Cookie sheet does NOT need to be sprayed or greased if you are just making cookies, however, if you choose to make cookie bars in a 9x13” pan, you will want to grease the pan so that the dough does not stick
  7. Specific brand names of these ingredients is not important, you can use whatever you have at home! However, for the chocolate chips, I recommend using Nestle. For the flour, if you want to make the cookies a little bit healthier, you can use half regular bleached flour and half wheat flour (or all wheat)- To ensure butter is softened, let it sit out for a few hours before you make the dough, or microwave it for about 30 seconds

  9. Note- sometimes I use an extra teaspoon of vanilla to give it an even better taste! This is up to you though.
  10. Notes- always wash hands after handling raw eggUse entire egg and stir in one at a time- this ensures that they will be thoroughly mixed into the batter.Tip- stir in flour mixture (contents of Bowl 1) a little bit at a time. This helps ensure even distribution and prevents a mess from occurring due to puffs of flour. It is much easier to stir in when you add about a 1/3 of it at a time, stirring until completely mixed in after adding each third.Picture- http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/mychannel957.com/files/2011/11/Cookie-Dough.jpg

  12. You can make the cookies as small or as large as you like, but it is important to keep in mind that the larger they are, the farther apart you should place the dough on the cookies sheet since they will expand.Note- If pressed for time/need to make them last minute, making cookie bars is easier because you don’t have to individually form and place the dough, you can just press ALL the dough into a pan.Picture-http://pinchmysalt.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/img_3251.jpg
  13. If making cookie bars, bake time will be different (about 18 minutes)Note- sometimes baking times will be different depending on your oven, therefore it is important to check on them every few minutes to ensure that they are not overcooking.- Note 2- cookies will be VERY hot when taken out of the oven, please wait at least 15 minutes before eating and sharing to prevent from burning yourself!Cookie picture- http://www.meals.com/imagesrecipes/18476lrg.jpg
