The whirlwind of financial incentives
announced for Ace sprinter Dutee
Chand, when she got silver in 100
Meters on 27 August.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik
announced a cash award of Rs.1.5
Crore for his success.
Then as she got silver medal in 200
Meters, Chief Minister announced
additional Rs.1.5 Crore of cash reward.
When she returned from Jakarta she
was handed her Rs.3 Crore for her
performance in Asiad Championship.
And today Chief Minister Mr.Patnaik
felicitated six Odia hockey players who
figured in the national teams that won
silver and bronze medal in the recently
held Asian Games in Jakarta.
Minister Sports and Youth Affairs,
Chandra Sarathi Behera, Chief
Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi,
Development Commissioner R
Balakrishnan, Secretary Sports and
Youth Affairs Vishal Dev and Director
Sports R Vineel Krishna were also
present during the occasion.
Four out of these six were from
women’s team while two represented
the man’s hockey team in the Asiad.
Mr.Patnaik gave away cash award of
Rs1 Crore each to four women players
– Sunita Lakra, Lilima Minz, Dipgres
Ekka and Namita Topo- who figured in
the national hockey side that won
silver medal in the Asian Games.
Similarly, Birendra Lakra and Amit
Rhidas who represented national
men’s team that won bronze medal
were given Rs. 50 lakh each.
Suita Lakra and Amit Rohidas were
also conferred with Biju Patnaik Award
for 2017 today as they were absent
during the state level program held
earlier.
Mr.Patnaik gave away Player of the
Year trophies to both of them along
with citation and cash award of Rs. 2
lakh each.
The Chief Minister also rewarded
Jauna Murmu and Purnima Hembrum
with Rs. 7.5 lakh each for participating
in the Jakarta Asian Games.
“They have made Nation and the State
proud for their stellar performance
and the State Government would
provide all assistance to them in
future”, said a visibly happy Chief
Minister.
