This document explains how to convert a Roman numeral into an Arabic number. It uses the example of converting MCDLXVII. Following the rules, MCDLXVII is broken down into its individual place values of M=1000, CD=400, LX=60 and VII=7, which are then added together to get the final Arabic number of 1467.
