Kerala University of College Teacher Education welcomes trainee Arya Lekshmi.G.S. to discuss the topic of acid rain. Acid rain is formed when carbon dioxide and other pollutants in the air mix with water vapor and fall as rain, containing higher than normal acidity levels. Acid rain damages structures like monuments and buildings, irritates human eyes, harms plants and aquatic life, and corrodes surfaces by making soil more acidic.
4. DUE TO ATMOSPHERIC POLLUTION A
LOT OF ACID PARTICLES GET MIXED
UP WITH RAIN WATER AND FALLS AS
ACID RAIN
5. •The Carbon dioxid in the air mixes with the water
vapour and carbonic acid is formed.
•The water Vapour and acid that are mixed in the
atmosphere fall as rain and show on the earth.
•When the quality of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere increases, the intensity of the acid rain
also increases.
6. EFFECTS OF ACID RAIN
• Damages to monuments, buildings
and statues.
• Make soil Acidic.
• Causes irritation to eyes in
human being.
• Effect to plants, fishes and
animals.
• Cause corrosion of the
marble or brick surface
