Artist’s Statement

I	am	an	audio	engineer,	and	in	today’s	crowded	music	industry,	I	am
determined	to	make	my	mark.	The	best	feeling	in	the	world	is	being	able	to	help	give
someone	a	voice	to	speak	to	and	for	the	world,	and	our	society.	With	the	high	cost	of
recording,	and	new	low	cost	of	DIY	productions,	I	hope	to	provide	artists	with	a	high
quality	product	that	we’re	both	proud	of,	and	they	can	afford.	No	one	should	have	to
kill	themselves	over	expressing	their	deep,	inner	emotions	to	the	world.	I	want	to
show	the	world	the	truth	behind	my	artists’	music	and	give	people	the	ability	to
show	off	their	vision	of	our	society.
I	choose	effects	and	samples	and	recording	techniques	on	those	I	record	and
produce	mostly	by	gut	instinct.	If	I	have	an	idea	in	the	studio,	no	matter	how	silly	or
irrelevant,	I’ll	try	it	out	and	show	the	performer	to	get	their	input.	This	technique
expands	my	recording	“vocabulary”,	and	creates	mixes	more	unique	than	the	mid-
heavy	drone	that	tends	to	be	on	most	pop	radio	mixes.	At	the	end	of	the	day,	I
choose	to	do	what	I	do	based	upon	the	artist’s	vision.	If	I	can	incorporate	my	own
within	it,	great,	if	not,	then	so	be	it.	I	get	the	most	joy	out	of	my	work	when	the
performer	gets	to	see	their	vision	brought	to	life	in	ways	they	never	thought
possible.
I	came	to	be	in	the	position	I’m	in	because	I	want	to	know	how	to	do
everything	musically.	Obviously,	I’ll	never	know	everything,	but	this	endless	pursuit
of	knowledge	keeps	me	motivated	and	moving	forward.	I	first	started	by	just	buying
a	microphone,	interface,	iLok,	and	downloading	Pro	Tools,	and	just	pretending	to
know	what	I’m	doing.	I’ll	always	love	being	in	bands	and	playing	music,	but	it’s	here
that	I	have	found	my	calling.	It	is	here	that	I	can	express	my	own	truths	and	beliefs
in	an	everlasting	discussion	between	art	and	the	industry.	I	strive	to	challenge	the
limits	of	modern	recording	methods	and	to	discover	new	and	innovative	ideas.	By
doing	this	work,	I	get	to	see	other	artists’	dreams	come	true	while	my	own	dreams
soar.	There	is	no	greater	feeling.
