3. Artificial Intelligence is a branch of
Science which deals with helping
machines find solutions to complex
problems in a more human- like fashion.
This generally involves borrowing
characteristics from human intelligence,
and applying them as algorithms in a
computer friendly way.
4. History of Artificial Intelligence
On 1956, A workshop was organised at Dartmouth
sponsored by John McCarthy. In that workshop for
the first time in history he introduced the phase
“ Study Of Artificial Intelligence”. He also played
a significant role in the creation of Intelligent
Machines.Thus, John McCarthy
is known as the father of AI.
5. Why AI ?
Computers are fundamentally well suited to performing
mechanical computations using fixed programmed rules.
This allows artificial machines to perform simple monotonous
tasks effectively and reliably, which humans are ill-suited to.
Humans are driven by Emotions, Not AI
6. Limitations Of Human Mind
● Object Recognition. People cannot
properly explain how they recognize
objects.
● Face Recognition. Cannot be passed
on to another person by explanation.
● Naming Of Colours. Based on learning,
not on absolute standards.
7. Applications Of AI
● Robotics
● Automobile Industry
● Computer Vision
● E- Commerce
● Speech Recognition
● Electronics
● Banking and Financial Services
● Healthcare Industry
8. Current Status of AI
❖ AI have taken many shapes and forms over recent years
– Mobile Phones (Siri / Cortana)
– Video Games Characters
– GPS / Voice Recognition
– Robotics
❖ Google has been a major play on AI transcendence and Deep Learning
– Deep Learning is a machine learning based on algorithms.
9. Advantages Of AI
● Precision and Accuracy
● Space exploration
● Used for mining process
● Can do laborious tasks
● Fraud detection, manage records
● Can do repetative and time- consuming tasks
● Function without stopping, Risk Reducing
● Diagnosis and Treatment
10. Disadvantages Of AI
● Cost incurred in the maintenance and repair
● Not able to act any different
● Lack the human touch
● Lack a creative mind
● Lack common sense
● Unemployment of Humans
● Abilities of humans may diminish
● Wrong hands causes destruction
11. Challenges
● Computing Power
● Tolerance Power
● Intuitive Thinking
● Judging Power
● Creative Thinking
● Don’t have Emotions
12. Future Of AI
● Self- Driving Cars
● Improved Medical & Treatment
● AI in Military
● AI in Cybersecurity
● AI in Finance
● AI in Gaming
● AI in Education
● AI to predict Natural Calamities
13. Conclusion
In it’s short existense, AI has increased the nature of
intelligence and provided an impressive array of
application in a wide range of areas. It has sharpened
understanding of human reasoning, and of the nature
of intelligence in general. At the same time it has
revealed the complexity of modelling human
reasoning providing new areas and rich challenges for
the future.
