- How much would you sacrifice to discover the truth? Alex Henson a buddying journalist eager to prove himself, is brutally murdered while trying to infiltrate a secret organisation here in Melbourne. Unable to ignore the peculiar events that were occurring in his life Alex gave up everything to discover and reveal the truth. Was this all in vain? Why exactly was he killed and by who?‘Illuminate my mind’ is an online transmedia thriller that explores what can happen if you fall in too deep and lose perspective on life. Told in reverse this story documents the events that lead to Alex’s obsession and eventual demise via his personal blog. Did Alex’s use of social media and his tendency to share his life online ultimately get him killed? to uncover, document and publish the truth online for everyone to see?
- ‘Illuminate my mind’ is an online transmedia thriller that explores what can happen if you fall in too deep and lose perspective on life. Told in reverse this story documents the events that lead to Alex’s obsession and eventual demise via his personal blog. - This transmedia story plays out over 2 main platforms Alex’s personal blog and his Facebook page. The blog ‘Thank you and good night’, is our primary medium, which documents the milestones in Alex’s story along with his mental decline from an enthusiastic inquisitive journalist to an obsessive paranoid shell of a man. The story is told in reverse following the natural structure of a blog with the latest post first. By following the story to the earliest post, the audience is able to discover the events that lead to Alex’s death
- On Facebook we have built 3 fictional characters, to allow the audience to exploreAlex’s life outside what he writes on his blog. This allows the audience to explore Alex’s personal relationships and watch their decline over time. This multiplatform experience gives the audience a deeper and richer narrative experience then if they were to read a single platform.
- We have also placed a code within the story that if cracked, will lead to a hidden website that reveals a missing element of the story.
- Illuminate my mind is a transmedia artefact that explores the risks involved in fighting for what you believe in. Do you believe in the fourth estate? Do you believe in the importance of transparency of information? How far would you go to fight for what you believe in?
