I am the Curator of Exhibitions at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. As such, I
organize the Center’s visual art exhibitions as well as various special events. The Art and
Culture Center of Hollywood is committed to creating opportunities for all people to
experience the visual and performing arts. This season we are celebrating 30 years since
the Center was founded! During this time we have showcased some of the world’s
leading talent in the visual and performing arts.
I first had the pleasure of meeting Jack Maxwell when he very graciously donated his
time for a unique event we held here at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood last year.
At that time we had an exhibition of photographs taken by artist Christiaan Lopez-Miro
that depicted various Magicians at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles. In conjunction with
this exhibit, the Center hosted an evening of sleight of hand which was performed by
Jack as well as 2 other magicians. This was a tremendously well attended program,
which was very favorably received by both the public and press.
I was impressed by Jack’s outstanding ability, showmanship, professionalism and great
wit.
As a result of our introduction, I then invited Jack to be Master of Ceremonies at our
fundraiser, Abracadabra, an exhibition and fine art raffle. During this exhibition and
special event, we raffled over $100,000 worth of fine art to raise funds for the Center.
Jack did a superb job of entertaining the audience of about 300 distinctive guests we had
in attendance. Leading up the highlight of the night, the raffle, Jack engaged our patrons
with his charismatic personality and gifted talent. All in all his charm and distinction
undoubtedly contributed to the event being a huge success! So much so, that we have
requested that Jack do an encore at our Abracadabra taking place February 2009.
I wholeheartedly recommend Jack for any occasion, in which magic and/or sleight of
hand are featured. We feel extremely privileged to have an association with Jack, as
fellow members of the Downtown Hollywood community. Jack, his events and classes, as
well as his fabulous Wizard’s Apprentice Magic Shop are a true treasure to have here in
South Florida.
As a member of our community and realizing the important role the arts play in our day to
day lives, Jack has been very generous with both his time and resources by contributing
to the Center and its mission. Something for which we are extremely grateful!
I welcome any further inquiries if need be.
Sincerely,
Jane Hart
