The IB2 Visual Arts students from Rasha Daouk were invited to an Iftar dinner where they learned about the 2009 Virginia Commonwealth Design Competition from the organizers. This year's competition theme is "Better Living through Better Design" and challenges students to address problems people face daily through design. Students must submit their artwork by January 8th for a chance to win cash prizes and scholarships. The competition offers IB2 students a great experience.

Art Competition Accompanied by their teacher and Head of Art, Mrs. Samia Boulad, and Mrs. Mona Shbablo- Dean of students- the IB2 Visual Arts students were invited to an Iftar in the Gefinor Rotana Hotel. They were hosted by the organizers of the 2009 Virginia Commonwealth Design Competition, Mrs. Donna Duffet, Mr. Zoghmout and Mr. Choueiry who explained to the students the theme and rules of this art contest. This year's competition is entitled “Better Living through Better Design" will be an opportunity for the students to respond to the small or large problems that people all over the world are faced with daily. Every year VCUQ awards cash prizes and two full scholarships to the winners of the VCU Qatar Design Competition. The students must submit their work before January 8th .This will be a great experience offered to all 12th graders. Hope many will participate and win! (By Dana Khalil, IB2).
