Remind them that the Holy Family were refugees. You may want to distribute the USCCB/MRS prayer cards “A Prayer for the Refugee.” The picture depicts the Holy Family and their flight into Egypt from King Herod of Israel who wanted to kill all the infant boys. The Pope reminds us over and over again of the Church’s concern for refugees.
Briefly describe one of the more compelling refugee cases served in your diocese. Focus on why they had to leave their country and how they did so – their “pre-resettlement” story. If possible, have a staff member who is a former refugee tell his/her story.
