1. RICHARD W. ARP
Dick Arp has over 35 years of financial experience with
major Chemical, Steel and Oil and Gas companies. He has
held Executive roles covering Tax, Accounting and Treasury
responsibilities. He is currently retired but actively seeking
opportunities to help companies and organizations achieve
their financial goals.
He has successfully helped companies negotiate bankruptcy filings and emergence with
favorable financing terms. He implemented outsourcing contracts for major division functions
and led cost cutting initiatives in times of lower commodity prices. He has successfully
completed SEC clearance for public debt offerings. He has a keen sense of business acumen
beyond finance and has improved performance in purchasing, transportation, insurance and
warehouse operations.
In his last position at Lone Star Steel Company, Dick served as Chief Financial Officer of this
$400 million corporation. There he managed the financial effort through a successful Chapter
11 filing, emerging from bankruptcy with shareholders retaining ownership of the reorganized
company. Dick negotiated a substantial post bankruptcy financing package with a group of
banks including Bank of New York, Bank of Boston and Wells Fargo. He later refinanced twice
and won more favorable terms on both.
Subsequently, after assessing IT requirements and internal capabilities, he negotiated a
contract to outsource all computer related operations. Costs were reduced by fifteen per cent
while response time and efficiencies improved. Reacting to changing market conditions and
subsequent reorganizations, Dick's responsibilities were expanded beyond the financial area to
include purchasing, transportation, insurance and warehousing.
In his earlier career, Dick spent seventeen years with Diamond Shamrock Corporation, an oil
and gas company with four billion dollars of annual revenue. As Vice President-Controller he
led a vigorous cost cutting effort during a period of lower crude prices and obtained accounting
clearance from the SEC for two public debt offerings in excess of $100 million each as well as
several acquisitions of multimillion dollar publicly traded companies.
His earlier years were also with Diamond Shamrock where he managed the corporate tax effort
as well as financial analysis and construction accounting.
Dick completed the Executive Development Program at the Tuck School of Business at
Dartmouth College. He also has a BS in Accounting from Kent State University and a MBA
from Case Western Reserve University
