This document discusses experiences with user-generated content and crowdsourcing on Arkitekturbilleder.dk. It describes how crowdsourcing was used to add over 55 new building photos in three months compared to 60 added in a previous year. Benefits included greater diversity of content and geographical coverage, while challenges included variable workloads and ensuring contributors remain engaged. Future plans could involve crowdsourcing the website and app development. The document seeks feedback on using crowdsourcing further.

Zotero is the free easy to use reference management tool that I recommend to students and researchers at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation
The Library at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation launched the crowdsourcing project of arkitekturbilleder.dk in summer 2012 and it has been a great success and experience for us. We have managed to involve some of the users of our picture database arkitekturbilleder.dk and to turn them into contributors. They not only contribute by adding pictures of modern Danish architecture but their overall involvement and engagement in the project has been so overwhelming that we now like to see and call them collaborators.

The crowdsourcing project of arkitekturbilleder.dk, a picture database of Danish architecture, showcases the potential to run a crowdsourcing project with almost no fundings at all. Thoughts on challenges, possibilities, practice and methods – and how to keep the “crowd” motivated and stimulated to secure further contributions.
AASL Miami Conference 2014 - Future proofing the library using expert crowdso...Daniel Gunnarsson
Most crowdsourcing projects today feature common functions that make it possible for anyone with the time and interest to contribute. Such projects are in most cases based on a highly developed web-design, which enables users to easily create their own account and to contribute in an instant. These systems are usually very expensive to build, maintain and develop. However, the crowdsourcing project of arkitekturbilleder.dk, a picture database of Danish architecture, showcases the potential to run a crowdsourcing project with almost no funding’s at all.
During the last 18 months, arkitekturbilleder.dk has managed to engage 14 photographers with architectural training and professional experience to contribute voluntarily to the site with pictures of Danish architecture. The KADK library has on two occasions posted ads to attract photographers, and thereafter carried out interviews to secure that our guidelines and standards for documenting architecture are met. We have learned that this method creates a sense of exclusivity, where each individual’s contribution is appreciated and receives the expected attention.
We have received more than 1500 pictures of 80 new buildings since the project started. The photographers’ involvements have also included improvements of functions, interface and back-end of arkitekturbilleder.dk. They have also become great ambassadors for the site at their schools and workplace, which is seen in constantly rising visiting statistics.
However, the project have faced many challenges along the way, and we continuously work to improve our practice and methods and to keep our photographers motivated and stimulated to secure further contributions.
Advanced Master in Computational Design & MakingDesign By Data
The aim of the Advanced Master is to provide students with a cross-disciplinary culture of computational design, from parametric conception to extensive knowledge of the impact of digital design and making tools on artistic professions, design, urban planning, architecture and engineering. The training has been designed as an augmented experience including courses, prototyping workshops, conferences, maker-spaces visits and networking events. The courses and conferences will take place in multiple locations in Paris, making this training a true opportunity to discover innovative places in the capital.

Presentation about the project re:DDS at the University of Malta, 22 May 2014.
The project attempts to reconstruct the virtual city, the DDS. De Digitale Stad (DDS), the Digital City, is an unique case study to tell the history of e-culture in Amsterdam. The goals of the project re:DDS are:
- To preserve the internet-historical monument DDS
- To map the history of the DDS, internet and e-culture in Amsterdam
- To include the DDS in the collections of the heritage institutions of Amsterdam
- A pilot for net-archaeology: how to reconstruct, preserve and retrieve the virtual city DDS (DDS is born-digital) and make it accessible to the public, on a scientific and social level.
