The document provides tips for enthusiast club members to provide value to other BMW Z series enthusiasts. It recommends being timely, setting expectations, listening to people, and acting as a point of contact. It also suggests recruiting new members by making generic business cards, responding to inquiries, and gaining members' trust. Finally, it advises working with the BMW Car Club of America by joining events, taking photos to share, putting on your own events, and networking with chapter officials.
2. Working with members
Be timely
It is ok not to know or have an answer to a question
▪ Set expectations and keep them
▪ Have them email you and remind you of their question
▪ Evoke yourself as a contact
▪ Be the go to guy
▪ Listen to people
3. Recruiting new members
Make a business card
Make it as generic as possible
▪ Have a club business card for official contact
▪ Have a business card of yourself for initial contact ( I get more responses from these )
▪ Include : Name /Email address / Area ( SoCal) /Black and white ( keep it simple and
cost effective ) / Include forum name
▪ Pass them out or stick them on a windshield wiper in a parking lot ( not the door )
▪ Get them to email you
▪ respond to email ( ask make/model/color/year/ general location )
▪ Ask what kind of events they prefer ( static/social/drives/camping/potlucks )
▪ Make a email profile state that you do not share info ( gain the trust )
Don’t share send bulk emails BCC
It takes time, if they like what you are doing you can them sell the club
Sell yourself
▪ When on forums
▪ Do what you say you are going to do
▪ Pay attention where people are from and send them a PM and invite them to an event
4. Working with BMW CCA
Join in on their events
▪ Be a spectator
▪ Take pics and post on their website or Face book
▪ Ask permission instead of begging forgiveness
▪ Be a member ( they will be more receptive to helping members )
▪ Put on an event ( they do not do well with drives )
▪ Communicate with them ( word will spread )
Network with people
▪ at registration ( generally people that hold an office )
▪ Track events
▪ Multiple chapters in your area
