Hi, I’m Jane Lamberti, Georgia’s brain injury attorney. Many of my clients when they’re in car or trucking accidents suffer from something called "Whiplash", really when you get hit from behind your body and your neck goes forward and then it whips right back. And sometimes immediately after the accident or a day later they’re feeling no pain, but two to three days after their accident their neck can hurt significantly. Why is that? Well two reasons: One, as that when you’re in the trauma of an accident, your body releases natural chemicals like adrenaline to help relieve the pain. And secondly, remember when you get your neck thrown forward and then back and things get stretched and torn, it takes time before the swelling gets to its maximum amount, and remember your spinal cord and your brain are contained within bones, and so as the swelling occurs, it pushes out against the bone and that’s when you feel the pain. And sometimes if the pain is serious or you feel numbness or tingling going down your arms or your legs, it’s really important that you seek a medical attention immediately because it could be something very life threatening that wasn’t present immediately after the accident but a day or two later does develop. I’m Jane Lamberti, Georgia’s brain injury attorney, fighting for your peace of mind.
