This document summarizes key details about several native American tree species. It describes the Washington Palm as the largest native species that grows in canyons and near waterholes with fan-shaped leaves that are split by the wind and produce small black edible fruits. The Southern Magnolia is highlighted as a very handsome ornamental tree with large white fragrant flowers and large dark green leaves. It also notes that the Western Red-cedar is a giant conifer found in the Pacific Northwest and Pecan is an important cultivated crop tree and ornamental with edible nuts.
The document provides information about Reiman Gardens, including sections on visitor information, education events, volunteering, exhibits, and employment opportunities. It also highlights the "Reiman's Picks" section, which features weekly blog posts by interns about particular plants found in the gardens. The posts summarize the history, characteristics, uses and best time to view three plants: Northern Catalpa, Quaking Aspen, and Ginkgo biloba.
This document is an urban tree selection guide created by Casey Trees for the Mid-Atlantic region. It provides information on selecting appropriate tree species for urban landscapes. The guide groups trees by size (large, medium, small) and lists them alphabetically with details on physical characteristics, growing conditions, habitat value and suitable landscape locations. It describes crown forms, hardiness and heat zones, soil/light requirements, and whether trees are native or tolerant of drought, pollution or salt. The overall purpose is to help designers and landscapers choose trees adapted to the urban environment in the Mid-Atlantic states.
This document provides information on the benefits of using native plants in landscaping, including that they are better adapted to the local climate, require less watering once established, and attract local wildlife like birds. It recommends buying native plant seeds or young plants from regional sources and outlines how to incorporate native plants into landscaping designs. The document also provides lists of native plant species recommended for different growing conditions in eastern and western Kansas.

The document provides information for an Envirothon training event, including a list of tree species trainees should know and background information on plant identification. It discusses the importance of both common and scientific names, and introduces the concept of dichotomous keys for identifying trees. Basic leaf terminology is defined to help trainees use tree identification keys, which typically begin by examining leaf arrangement and type.
The document summarizes various adaptations that allow coast redwood trees to grow extremely tall (over 320 feet) and live for over 2,000 years. It explains that their thick bark provides protection from fires and insects, their leaves can absorb water from fog, and they sprout new trunks if the top is burned. It also notes that coast redwoods only grow naturally in a small region of northern California where environmental conditions like summer fog and nutrient-rich soil allow them to thrive.
The document provides updates from Taltree Arboretum:
1) They opened Phase 1 of the Bapst Memorial Rose Garden, honoring a longtime volunteer. They hope to complete the garden in 2016.
2) They opened the East Property, adding 114 acres and over 2 miles of trails. It includes habitats being restored for American Woodcock and Ring-Necked Pheasant.
3) Upcoming events include family camping, bonfires, hayrides and night hikes in the fall.

Trichogramma spp. is an efficient egg parasitoids that potentially assist to manage the insect-pests from the field condition by parasiting the host eggs. To mass culture this egg parasitoids effectively, we need to culture another stored grain pest- Rice Meal Moth (Corcyra Cephalonica). After rearing this pest, the eggs of Corcyra will carry the potential Trichogramma spp., which is an Hymenopteran Wasp. The detailed Methodologies of rearing both Corcyra Cephalonica and Trichogramma spp. have described on this ppt.

Monitor indicators of genetic diversity from space using Earth Observation dataSpatial Genetics
Genetic diversity within and among populations is essential for species persistence. While targets and indicators for genetic diversity are captured in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, assessing genetic diversity across many species at national and regional scales remains challenging. Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) need accessible tools for reliable and efficient monitoring at relevant scales. Here, we describe how Earth Observation satellites (EO) make essential contributions to enable, accelerate, and improve genetic diversity monitoring and preservation. Specifically, we introduce a workflow integrating EO into existing genetic diversity monitoring strategies and present a set of examples where EO data is or can be integrated to improve assessment, monitoring, and conservation. We describe how available EO data can be integrated in innovative ways to support calculation of the genetic diversity indicators of the GBF monitoring framework and to inform management and monitoring decisions, especially in areas with limited research infrastructure or access. We also describe novel, integrative approaches to improve the indicators that can be implemented with the coming generation of EO data, and new capabilities that will provide unprecedented detail to characterize the changes to Earth’s surface and their implications for biodiversity, on a global scale.
