This document provides a rebuttal to a psychiatrist's assessment of President Trump's mental health. It argues that:
1) An aggressive personality style does not equate to violence, and there is no evidence of Trump's alleged "past violence."
2) Trump's comments about sexual assault were more akin to boasting about his success with women, not an endorsement of assault.
3) Speculation that Trump exhibits paranoia, recklessness, or lack of empathy is unfounded and ignores policy actions that show empathy.
4) Attempts to diagnose Trump's mental health from a distance are questionable, and his behavior reflects a straightforward and candid personality, not mental instability.

The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.

Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

1. A Psychologist's Retort to A Psychiatrist’s Assessment of Pres Trump's Mental Health
Nancy Mroczek PhD
January 8, 2018
Psychiatrist Dr Bandy Lee is reported to havebriefed a dozen members of Congress in early
December on the mental health ofthe president. This is a response to the points made byDr
Lee in an article published in the Guardian regardingthe mental health ofPresident Trump.
Dr Lee seems to easilyequate aggressive personal style with commission of violence! An
aggressive male or personality is not a violent male as Dr Lee seems to suggest. She refers to
"past violence" of her subject, which begs the question: what "past violence"!
Dr Lee cites the president's "boastingabout sexualassaults"as related to violence. Firstly, the
manner in which President Trump told of touchingwomen's parts was not boasting- it' was
more a confidingof a 'believe it or not' varietyabout what one feels is good fortune, great
giveaways, so to speak in the life of celebrity& Hollywood, where, as I've noted previously, all
genders are in the game as it is played. Similarly, sex parties in Silicon valleyhave been
described recently with interviewed women reportinghow they provide themselves sexuallyat
the parties as a means of advancingin careers. And for the Silicon males?: to the victors belong
the spoils wherein 'nerd' types score bonanzas. It seems to me that many women (and men)
will hate the president more to see this said in print.
Secondlythe president is traditionallywhat has been called a red-bloodedmale who loves and
is apparentlyroused by feminine beauty. Pictures ofhim with gorgeous babes typicallyshows
the president's face to look as though he is sittingin the catbird seat. And the president does
seem to be the type of male who feels successful, beaming, and havingmade it,to have
glamorous babes at his side for an ego that yearns to be fed - an ego that is not compensated
with arrogance but needy for validation ofself value and worth. Interpretation:the president is
human and has his own foibles as do we all. This is also what keeps him wantingto be
reinforced - ie, to get collaborativeacknowledgement, acceptance, and worthiness. And he
wants to be, needs to be, exceptional. This however does not compromise logic or non-
foolishness in his actions. Thepresident has a decided grip on reality.
Dr Lee notes the president taunts Kim Jon Un. Yes the president is in a verbal confrontation
with Kim. Thus far the president has managed to get some help from China in puttingpressure
on Kim - remarkable, but the president will get no credit for that as with other
accomplishments. Also, the North and South Koreas havetaken small steps toward
communication just now. I believe the president is all bluffat this time and usinghis words to
wrestle Kim to some form of change that is NOT a nuclear strike nor a preemptiveUS
strike. It also may be that the generals he relies on have told him somethingmust be done to
manage NK.
2. Dr Lee notes recklessness as part of a pattern associated with violence (again -what violence?)
as a thesis she promulgates. Ifyou lookat his work life to date, the president is not reckless. At
the same time, the president is bold, verybold, and he surely wants the record of his
presidencyto lookjudicious and good (um, I mean great).
Dr Lee states "Paranoia and overwhelmingfeelings ofweakness and inadequacymake violence
very attractive, and powerful weapons very temptingto use – all the more so for their
power." Tell that to HC and the Prince of Peace Obama about Libya.
Paranoia is impugned by Dr Lee as fittingwith her thesis of violence. I say shame to
indirectly attributing clinically defined paranoiato the president. Nevertheless, howdo you
thinkit feels to learn the FBI is monitoringconversations, etc, over the many months, and to
have President Obama tell President Trump he wants everythingto go as well as possible for
him as the next president. And would it not at all be unjustified 'paranoia'to consider that
people may be out to get you (hint:like contrivingthe whole monitoring& Russia
saga). Remember the hostile faces of the grieving (excuse me I mean 'greeting') previous WH
staff as President Trump made his earlyway to the WH?.
It's more amazingthat President Trump has kept his head about himselfgiven the supremely
inordinate uncalled-for baptism byfire his presidencyhas been. If he is cautious about what
perceived enemies may do next, he is well grounded to be so. Enemies WILL NOT REST & are
becomingmore & more vituperous as he still prevails. That's leftism too:if the first jabs prove
ineffective, keep ampingup the gain until your goal is achieved: to bring down the President.
For the record, I thought it was a great idea for Presidents Trump and Putin possibly to have a
more amicable detente. The enemy press, enemy Democrats, and enemy
Republicans destroyedthat thus far.
"Lack of empathy"noted by Dr Lee as characteristicof violence (what violence?) is categorically
untrue. It's for whom the empathyis more pronounced -in this case, police, veterans, military
personnel,ICE,first responders,evangelicals, etc, versus,eg, illegal,and specifically
illegal criminal, immigrants. Remember when President Trump sent the first Obamacare plan
back to the house callingit "cruel"?
Remember when President Trump said he will not touch Social Security (we shall see,I know, as
Republicans -eg, Ryan, - would love to do 'reform'). President Trump is neither Democrat nor
Republican,he's Trump. Remember that the tax plan did nip at the more affluent and give
breaks to the less affluent - somethingRepublicans likelywould not havedone without
President Trump. It's an homage to the president that he got anythingfor the non-affluent
with a Republican Congress. Granted, perhaps those who worked the bill would disabuse me
of this notion and proveme wrong.
As a person who has watched the vast majority of President Trump's verbal appearances in the
form of speeches and rallies given,I say President Trump thinks, thinks deeply,& thinks on his
3. feet. The president likelydoes get bored which is hardly the same as missingthings he needs
to know. The president absorbs multiple things constantly. As he circles around points he is
making within an array of their contexts and relations,he always brings the point
home. (Secret: he is smart.)
The president is a straightforward, direct person ofunfiltered candor (which are not keywords
to cry frontal lobe!!!) Yes he can be nasty in criticism, but that not withstanding, can people
stand the truth? Those of us who esteem the job he is doingloveto hear from a politicianthe
unvarnishedtruth ofhis thought. That truth is a miracle. The president doesn't even seem to
get hownakedlycandorous he is. His candor is not somethingnew.
I say, oh,the poor-all-too-humanmental healthproviders who havenever seen the likes of
such a personalityin their routine conventional conformingprofessional & academicized
existences. President Trump is worldly& practical & daring(as in adventuresome) - but he is
not foolish.
Dr Lee says "pathologydoes not feel right to the healthy". I would ask Dr Lee: are you saying
you yourselfare healthy? "Pathologydoes not feel right to the healthy"is an ABSURD
STATEMENT. Pathologyis visited on the healthyevery day, healthy who fail to realize
pathologyin the first place. I won't bother to enumerate here the myriad times something
happens and persons who knew a perpetrator sayhe/she was such a nice guy/gal, he/she never
imagined..., etc. How about the bona fide psychologist who recently resigned from Congress
and about whom his staff told stories ofreportedly outrageous, warped behavior.
Dr Lee notes as "worrisome" the Mueller 'investigation's effect on the president's
"stability". Yes,the left is tryingto drive the president crazy with unrelenting
misinterpretations, outrightfabrications, and a zealous hatred ofall things Trump. The Russia
profanity is one of many manyslights, slurs, ridicules, hatreds,& tortures, persons haveused
to inflict harassment, strain, and preclusion ofPresident Trump beingable to advance his
program and to be about the work of a president. It's nothingshort of amazingthat the
president gets up each day & still does his job.
How it must HURT to be treated as he is beingtreated - to haveeverythingmisreported or
twisted into somethingbad. Who on God's earth could continue to endure the
inordinate bashing, smashing, trashing, and untruth, dayin & day out, that has been
promulgated onto President Trump. It's amazing, brilliant, that the paralyzingeffect on the
president from foreign and domesticforces leery of a person so besieged has not stifled
altogether his advancements to date.
The US does itselfno favors to harass the president so. A great number of people refuse his
agenda plain & simple & want him gone by anymeans. The psychiatrizingofwhat is
unwelcomed is a well worn communist tacticas is 'by any means necessary'.
