Master Sahil, a young boy, was brought to a center with complaints of hearing loss. He underwent a free screening that confirmed severe hearing loss. Further evaluation revealed he needed urgent surgery due to a past injury. The surgery was successful, though the family struggled with costs as the father worked temporarily. Rotarians were able to waive surgical fees and fund hospital expenses to help the boy receive needed treatment.

A discussion over the group
(Rotarians for Hearing-Rotary Action
Group) on facebook turned out a
wonderful project.
Master Sahil a young boy came to our
Centre with complaints of hearing
loss.
He was screened free of charge by the
Audiometer sent by our fellow
member PP Lyn of Rotarians for
Hearing Rotary Action Group.
Test report confirmed severe hearing loss and
I requested my ENT Surgeon friend Dr Sunil
to take this boy for further evaluation and
treatment. On further evaluation, it was
noticed that due to a past injury, there was a
deformity and he needed urgent surgery.
Treatment cost was a factor as this boy’s
father is a temporary worker in one of the
companies and they live in a remote village.
On my request Dr Sunil waived off his
surgical fee and we collected some funds to
meet hospital expenses.
Sahil was operated successfully and
was discharged and is recovering fast.

We joined hands with Volunteers at Polio Booth in Sector-40, Gurgaon.
We immunized kids with Polio Drops and distributed Rotary Balloons sent by Rotary Friends from Australia and shared
caps with Volunteers. M V Santhosh and his wife Akshatha S Rao who are on their way to tour India on bicycle to spread
awareness about “Suicide Prevention” joined us on Polio Ravivar.
We would like to thank AG Rtn. Linda Bertuzzi from RID 5300, for bringing the End Polio T shirt during her visit to
India on NID.

joint project of RC of Calcutta Magnum and
our club to empower women in that area.
This kitchen garden project is helping
women to generate their livelihood.

Long time friends on facebook
Rtn Nischal Pandey met with
visiting Rtn PP Douglas Brown
and his gracious wife from
California.
Rtn. Douglas came to India as a
volunteer during Tsunami relief
work and it inspired him to become
a Rotarian.
Club Flags were exchanged and
Rtn Nischal Pandey shared some
Indian traditional gifts with the
couple.
Rtn. Douglas, loves to travel India and

Celebrations on Charter Day( 27th April)
Sunday the 27th of April was even more special for us as we celebrated our
Club’s Charter Day with kids studying at partime school-Umeed
Students marked the occasion with cake cutting ceremony and distribution of
sweets.
We had the opportunity to celebrate our fellow E-Club member Rtn Alex’s
birthday also.
The young couple M V Santhosh and his wife Akshatha S Rao
joined us for the celebrations and they made it memorable by
teaching some dance steps to the kids and making a beautiful
presentation for them.
It really brought lot of joy for the kids and we could not ask for
a better celebration for this special day.
