This document provides information about an upcoming student trip to London, England. It includes a brief introduction to London and details about transportation. 3. Brief Introduction of London- London is the capital of the United Kingdom - It’s a very multi-cultural city. - It’s population is of approximately 7 556,900 inhabitants. - The Thames River is one of the great attractions that the city has. - It has got lots of important Historical Buildings.

4. Visit InformationThisvisit will take place in August 2011 and it will include visits to some of the most important Historical Monuments in London. There will also be time to do some shopping in the most well known local shops.The visit will be guided by a professional guide, that will make sure all your questions are answered. We will arrive at Heathrow Airport and leave from Gatwick Airport.

5. Objectives for the visitOur main goal is to allow our students to have direct contact with the English language. This will encourage them to talk, ask information or even orientation on the places they would like to see. - Pronunciation is also our great objective. - Meet and work with some local students.

7. Places we will Visit- The Madam Tussaud’s Museum is one of the most appellative museums due to its characteristics , and also the beauty of its sculptures. There are many themes represented such as;Politics, Society, Cinema, Science and Sports.It’s also divided into 6(six) sections:Garden Party; Super Stars; Grand Hall; The Chamber of Horrors; The spirit of London

8. London EyeThis is a giant wheel it’s in the centre of London. It moves round in a very slow motion allowing visitors to have a close look of the whole city and also to as far as 40km on a clear day. We can see as far as Windsor Castle. It’s always possible make a video or take photos.It´s also known as ‘’The eye of London’’, it’s the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel. There is also a very interesting gift shop.

9. National Maritime Museum - In this fantastic museum we will be able to see detailing inspiration stories of exploration, discovery and endeavour from Britain's seafaring past.This museum also tells of the continuing effects the oceans still have on the world today. Amongst many other interesting things we can see Sir Nelson´s bullet-pierced coat from his final battle of cape Trafalgar.

10. Natural History MuseumThe Natural History Museum reveals how the jigsaw of life can be put together.This museum has many of the treasures of the world we live in , how they came about.This museum certainly tells us many stories

11. Buckingham Palace - The Buckingham Palace is the London home of the Royal Family. It has been the official residence of the sovereign since 1837.In August 18 rooms are opened for the public to visit.We will also watch the ‘’Change of the Guards Ceremony. This Ceremony happens every day at 11:30 during Summer and every second day in Winter.

Windsor CastleThis castle is the Queen´s official Residence and also her favourite weekend home.The queen continues to spend most of her private weekend at Winsor Castle, which is regularly used for ceremonial and State occasions.In this castle there are some magnificent art, silver lavish services of porcelain.

13. Royal Observatory Greenwich PlanetariumIn this marvellous museum you can explore the story of astronomy and time at Greenwich, as well as you can find out how Astronomer Royal with his discoveries of hundreds of years ago helped modern astronomers.We will be able to stand on the line of Greenwich which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1975.

14. London Tower- The London Tower is home to the Crown Jewels and centuries of remarkable stories.It has got a grim reputation as a place of torture and death. Within these walls you will find treasures as the Crown Jewels. You will be dazzled by the 23,578 gems that make up the Crown Jewels, also the glistening Imperial State Crown, which alone has 2,868 diamonds, 273 pearl, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds and 5 rubies.

15. Parks - Get away from it all with a visit to one of the capital’s green oases.- There are many parks scatted along the beautiful city of London.Some of the things that can be done are:Sightseeing, wildlife, flower displays, boating etc...- Londoners usually go to these parks to enjoy their lunch.

16. Shopping at Regent’s Street,Picadilly Circus and Leicester Square- There is a great variety of shops where you can buy almost everything.- A huge tourist attraction as it is in the hub of the West End.
