2. APPLICATION SOFTWARE
Application software includes program or set of
programs written for as specific processing
application(task).
There are four types of application software:
a. Word processor
b. Electronic Spreadsheets
c. Database Management System
d. Graphics and Presentation Packages
3. WORD PROCESSOR
A word processor is a software package that
enables you to create documents i.e., by using it
you can create a document , edit it, modify it, and
save it.
Creation of a document involves the typing of words
by the user into the primary memory of the
computer and then it is saved permanently on the
secondary memory.
4. ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEETS
Spreadsheet is defined as a large sheet containing
a matrix of rows and columns.
Spreadsheet provides the facility to organise data
into rows and columns.
A spreadsheet is also called a worksheet.
Using spreadsheets we can do:
Tabulation data
Analysis of data
Mathematical calculations
5. DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A database is a collection of information organized
to view, search, retrieve the right detail, and collect
the necessary facts in an easier, timely and
effortless manner.
Database Management System consists of the
databases and the set of programs to access the
data.
It manages creation and use of the database.
6. GRAPHICS AND PRESENTATION PACKAGES
Graphics and Presentation Packages creates
images, pictures, or designs which can be seen on
screen and printed.
In computer technology, the term “graphics” means
almost anything that is not a word or a number.
There are software packages to create any kind of
image for any purpose, including multicolour,
cartoons, company logos, pie, line and paragraphs,
maps and three dimension modelling.
