Anyfi.net Mobile™ is a mobile Wi-Fi solution that lets an MNO or MVNO offload mobile data onto existing home gateways, with authentication directly against the SIM card and end-to-end encryption all the way from the device to your core network. This means untrusted residential gateways can be transformed into a trusted non-3GPP access and mobile data securely offloaded, with centralized control and active quality management, without investment in femtocells.

While 4G networks have yet to emerge it’s already very clear what consumers expect from them: They should be fully mobile with seamless handover between small high capacity cells, communication should be secure from eavesdropping or modification and they should be blazing fast.
Anyfi.net Mobile will let you securely offload your subscribers mobile data onto your installed base of residential gateways, as well as public access points, while preserving that 4G experience and ensuring that fixed-line subscribers are not impacted in any way. We call it ZERO sign-on because your subscribers won ’ t have to enter any user credentials. Instead authentication is performed directly against the SIM card.
So let’s say I’m visiting a friend with an Anyfi.net enabled home gateway. My phone will automatically switch to Wi-Fi using my friend’s broadband connection for backhaul. Note however that my friend’s laptop will not detect this network. With Anyfi.net technology each device sees only the networks that are relevant to them. We go to great lengths to make sure that the fixed-line broadband subscriber is not impacted by our solution in any way. Both backhaul and radio resources are carefully managed and the fixed-line subscriber’s use prioritized.
Many fixed-line operators have hundreds of thousands or even millions of Wi-Fi equipped residential gateways. Anyfi.net software allows them to leverage these as a radio access network, license exempt and Wi-Fi compatible. Deployment is a simple zero CapEx remote firmware update.
Anyfi.net software is designed to protect the user experience of the residential subscriber, while also letting the residential gateway be used as a remote radio head. Unlike other architectures Anyfi.net software integrates closely with the radio and allows secure distribution of mobile Wi-Fi services. The WPA2 security mechanism that normally only protects data over the air is extended over the backhaul, through a Wi-Fi over IP tunnel, providing end-to-end encryption for each subscriber. There is no need for any additional software in the device – it’s all standard Wi-Fi from the device point of view. Advanced spectrum-aware traffic prioritization and radio resource management ensures that the user experience of the fixed-line subscriber is not affected in any way, and that mobile devices are only offloaded when the user experience will be improved.
Anyfi.net Mobile lets a mobile operator securely offload data onto existing residential gateways. Authentication and encryption is performed within a trusted environment. The residential gateway only acts as remote radio head, sending out on the radio the encrypted radio frames coming in through the Wi-Fi over IP tunnel. This architecture ensures user plane data integrity and confidentiality, even if an attacker is in complete control of the residential gateway. This is key to integrating residential gateways in mobile network as a “trusted non-3GPP access”.
