Slide 5: Impact of Mindfulness on Relationships
Mindfulness can help us better understand others and improve communication, leading to healthier relationships.
By focusing on the present moment and being fully attentive, mindfulness helps build stronger and more authentic connections with others.
Mindfulness teaches us how to be present for others in difficult times, leading to increased compassion and understanding.
Slide 6: Mindfulness Techniques and Practices
Focusing on the breath and mindful breathing can be a simple way to enter a state of mindfulness.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Announcements and Opening Prayer September 14, 2014
1. Opening Prayer (In Unison)
Gracious and Loving God, whatever you’re doing in this season, don’t do without us. Show us
what you’re doing and give us the courage to join you. Let the illusions that have held us back
now disappear. Let us have new energy. Let us have a new sense of purpose. Let us no longer
play small, regardless of other people’s reactions to us when we play big. We receive an
expanded set of options so that you might work miracles in our lives. We now open our minds
to possibilities we have not dreamt, to possibilities we have not imagined. We release
everything that would block us in this endeavor, from the past, present, and future. Break every
chain! In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Unison Scripture Reading: Acts 2:41-47 (NIV)
41Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their
number that day. 42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to
the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and
miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had
everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had
need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in
their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor
of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

God, we love you and the genuine expression of love is giving. You showed your love for us
first by giving us your Son. We demonstrate our love for you by giving now a portion of
what you have given to us. We give freely. We give cheerfully. We will not rob you. Instead,
we will worship you by giving from our heart.
You are our #1 priority. We will not treat banks or bills better than we treat you because you
deserve all the glory, the honor and the praise. We refuse to live under a curse. Therefore, in
obedience to your Word, we bring our tithe and our offering to you today.
PUT your promise into action! Open the windows of heaven and provide what we need for
our desires and our destiny!
POUR into our lives the phenomenal and spectacular by releasing a blessing that is beyond
our wildest dreams!
PROTECT everything that we currently have and do not permit the enemy to abort
anything that you are trying to give us for our future.
The tithe is what we owe, the offering is seed we sow. We sow now with the expectation of
jobs and better jobs, of businesses and greater businesses, of raises and bonuses, of houses
and land, of freedom from debt and supernatural increase. Bless us indeed and enlarge our
territory as we live for your glory. Alleluia! In the mighty, matchless and miraculous name of
Jesus, we confess. Amen!

Reverend Genevieve Smith has been a member of the Church of God for most of her life. She
became a member of the 22nd Street Church of God over 80 years ago and is one of the oldest
living members of the Thirty-Fourth Street Church of God.
Mother Smith served faithfully for many years as the director of the 22nd Street Church of God
Choir. She used her beautiful voice to sing the songs of Zion, glorifying the Lord! Along with
her sister, the late Hazel Frazier, they were dedicated members of the Benevolent Committee.
As an Ordained Minister, she was involved in outreach ministering by witnessing and
encouraging others to seek Christ. Reverend Smith is a devoted “prayer warrior “who is
committed to praying for others. Many generations have been blessed by her biblical teachings
and prayers.
Reverend Smith’s steadfastness and faithfulness in the Lord serve as a pillar of our history and
has help to lay the spiritual foundation of our church.
She is the mother of one daughter, Linda Reid, and two grandchildren and was married to the
late Owen Smith.

11. 34th Street Church mission can be summed up in this phrase: “empower you to
grow into all God created you to be.” Followers of Jesus are lifelong learners
and the spiritual journey is not meant to be alone. At 34th Street Church, we
believe that life is a team sport – best done together and as our church grows
larger, we must also grow smaller. Small groups are “learning communities”
that serve as a great way to grow in your relationship with God and make a
difference in the community. We encourage everyone to be involved in
group life because it’s there where you will meet new people while growing in
your faith.
