George Orwell's 1945 political satire Animal Farm is a fable that uses farm animals to represent people and events in the Russian Revolution. The animals on Manor Farm overthrow their human owner and establish an egalitarian society under the commandment "All animals are equal." However, the pigs, led by Napoleon, slowly start taking control and corrupt the revolution's ideals until the animals are no worse off than before. In the end, the pigs cannot be distinguished from the humans they replaced, showing how power corrupts absolute power absolutely.
