The Statue of Liberty is a famous neoclassical sculpture located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor that was gifted to the United States from France. It was designed by Fréderic Bartholdi to represent Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, bearing a torch and tablet that evokes law. Standing over 93 meters tall and weighing 225 tons, the statue has become an iconic symbol of freedom and welcome for immigrants arriving in America.
