Andhra Pradesh is located on the southeast coast of India with an area of 62,975 sq km and a population of over 49 million people. Its capital is currently Amaravati and was previously Hyderabad. The state has a coastline of 974 km and is known as the "Rice Bowl of India" for its agricultural production, especially of rice. It has many religious temples, heritage and archaeological sites, beaches, wildlife sanctuaries, and engages in arts and crafts making it a popular tourist destination for religion, nature, and culture.
