Summary of Opening Scene; Summary of the first 2-5 minutesThe opening of the film mainly shows a montage of the two main characters who have the job of visiting high schools around America to promote an energy drink as a replacement for drugs. It shows hat their jobs are not serious, they are rude to the children in the corridor and the less serious character who is dressed in the suit is shown actually smoking drugs in his costume.

4. Locations:  Outside an office building Car Garage, then onto the main road  Inside the carVarious High Schools Characters:You automatically know that they are some sort of duo in the film. One of which is the more serious character who is slightly more professional than the other. A man in a suit (main character – the more serious one) A man who gets out of a woman’s sports car (main character) Enigma Codes: You can sense that the film will continue the journey of the man in the suit who seems unhappy in his career. Perhaps him and his partner will have some sort of argument due to them being so different.

5. Camerawork and Editing; Effects of camerawork: Low angle shots of them when working, to show some sort of position of power – their ‘role model’ status perhaps.  Long shots show full length images of the two characters, it shows their contrasting costumes. Editing techniques and their effects: Montages of their various visits to schools all across the state, showing them trying to promote their energy drink instead of the use of drugs. It shows them doing their job then in-between their jobs, whereby you see their true character. An effect of this is that you see one of the men smoking drugs, which contradicts the message they are trying to get across to children – this shows a lot about the character. Use of Sound:  The use of ‘Rock’ style music gives the sense of some sort of rebellious, wild side to the film, which is an enigma code to the film.

Genre Characteristics:The costumes – The Minotaur Actors Performance – Contrast between the two characters  Mise-en-scene – The work truck When, Where and How titles are presented in Relation to the action:The story has already started before the title appears, although it has given no clues how it relates to the story.  Credits appear after the main title occasionally, as the action is happening. 7. Intended target audience and signifiers:I believe the target audience I believe would be for young males. The opening has the stereotypical male connotations, such as ‘one night stands’ and beer. The fact that the plot is based around two males would signify that this is the audience target also, as it as almost a cheeky companionship that two men could relate to. The humour and situations in the opening are that of a light nature, it is a film you would imagine a group of boys to go and see or watch a their friends house, rather than girls who obviously enjoy comedy, but would most likely be interested in a female based one. Ideas you could transfer to your opening sequence: Montage of shots would work really well in our film opening. The use of these help to show various sides to the character, and in a comedy it is very important to do this so that the audience are able to establish the comical side of the characters involved.  The style of music is appropriate to the characters personality, we could use the music in our film opening to paint a picture of what the characters are like before they talk. Especially on a film based on dance, the genre of music which is there speciality should be the sort of music we use when they are introduced.
