Couchbase for Mobile provides an embedded JSON database called Couchbase Lite that works both online and offline, with an automated secure sync mechanism. It allows mobile apps to store data locally for offline access, while also synchronizing with remote Couchbase Server databases in the cloud. The sync is handled by Couchbase Sync Gateway, which provides replication between local and remote databases, as well as authentication and access controls. This enables mobile apps to have low latency and high availability, while still accessing remote cloud data.
