The ice hotel is located in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden, 200 km north of the Arctic circle. It was originally developed for tourists staying in summer but an igloo exhibition inspired the idea of an overnight ice hotel. The hotel is rebuilt each year by erecting steel moulds and spraying them with snow and ice. Guests typically stay one night sleeping in the ice rooms and one night in the warmer rooms, and there are outdoor activities both summer and winter like fishing, rafting, and viewing the northern lights.
