2. WHO IS AMNESTY
INTERNATIONAL?
Amnesty International is an international organisation
independent of any government, political party, economic
interest and religious beliefs.
Amnesty strives to respect for the fundamental rights of every
human being, sanctioned 10 December 1948 by the General Assembly
of the United Nations that are:
•the right to freedom of thought, opinion and religion;
•the right to life, liberty and security of person;
•the right to prove his innocence with a public trial, fairly
and promptly.
3. WHAT THEY DO?
Amnesty works for the defense of human rights by lauching
campaigns about a country or a theme, creating educational
projects, to promove adherence to the values of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights and organizing public
events in order to raise public awareness.
