• The technology core that keeps Amazon running is entirely Linux-based

• The central Amazon data warehouse is made of 28 servers, with 4 CPU’s
per node, running Oracle 9i database software

• Customer’s personal information, credit card numbers and everything
is encrypted in order to secure information over internet

• It has huge database which hold information related to customers
• Customer’s ordering process is automated as the order is taken as it
automatically find the nearest distributing center for the delivery
• This system fasten the order fulfilment process and reduces any distribution
mistakes
Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
• In order to gain customer satisfaction and loyalty Amazon uses Customer Relationship
Management (CRM)
• All personal information of the customers their credit card record, transaction record,
order record, profile, their past purchase history are collected in the database
• The order processing system takes care of the transaction record with secured transaction
method and it delivers instructions to the delivery system for the execution of shipment
• Automated communication is ensured with customers through e-mail and message system
• With the CRM system Amazon successfully integrates customer sales, services and
communication
Amazon Using Robots in its Warehouses
• Amazon uses Kiva robots ,automated for picking and packing process at large
warehouses
• The robots are 16 inches tall and weigh 145 kg can run at 5 mph and haul
packages weighing up to 317 kg
• Amazon also uses other types of robots in its warehouses, including large robotic
arms that can move large pallets of Amazon inventory

Amazon Prime Air Drone Delivery System
• With vertical take-off and landing skills, and horizontal flight, the Amazon Prime
Air drones are like helicopters
• Topping an altitude of 100 meters and capable of hitting speeds close to 100kph
• The drone will have to return to base after each delivery for recharging
• Deliveries will be tricky if you live in a flat or tower block
• It also knows how to dodge birds
• You will need a helipad in your garden for its landing
