Alissa is a 12-year-old girl who lives in a village. Her father sends her to the city with a fat man to work for a thin man and his wife. Alissa is unhappy with the long hours and harsh treatment. She is then sent to work in a clothes shop where she works long hours. Eventually, the shop owner recognizes Alissa's literacy skills and promotes her to work directly in the shop.
