Lisa provides a daily blog summarizing her math class. The class started with mental math problems but Lisa forgot her worksheet. The new unit is about scales and weights, where the goal is to determine the weight of a blue weight using smaller yellow weights of weight 1. Through setting up equations and removing weights from both sides of the scale equally, the class determined the blue weight has a weight of 3. Lisa apologizes that the blog is short due to other homework and provides the homework assignments for the week.

2. Hello class, I am the scribe for today! Well,
actually suppose to be since Friday :( But, I
was to busy with other assignments from
other classes so, I give my apologize for that.
To start our day off we started it with mental
Math. Unfortunately, I left my mental math in
my locker, so I do not have the answers sorry!

3. After our mental math, we started a new unit
that involved a scale and weights. This unit is
called, Balance.
x + 5 = 8
= x
= 1
We started off with 1 big blue weight and 5 small yellow
weights on one side, and 8 small yellow weights on the
other. The yellow weights each had a weight of 1. We
were trying to figure out how can we get the weight of
the blue one itself.

4. So what we did was we isolated the small
weights on the side with the blue weight.
WHATEVER we do to one side, we must do
to the other side to try and keep it balanced.

CHECK: 3 + 5 = 8
As you can see, we took off the same amount of
weights on both sides. So X will equals 3.

5. After getting the notes about the new
unit, we worked on equations Ms.
Nicholson put up on the overhead.
That was a small re cap on what we did in class
today. Sorry for the really short brief, its that I
have tons of other homework left to do!Anyway,
