LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can

Alchemy Y3-Teach The Class-Final
1. Modern Alchemy
Taught By:- Isabel Black-3rd Year Gryffindor
Substituting for Professor Serafina Rosenquist.
2. Introduction
Hello and Welcome to the fourth lesson of Alchemy-301, Modern Alchemy. I am Isabel Black,
a Gryffindor 3rd Year student, who also happens to be a liaison. Prof. Rosenquist requested me
to take this class due to her having an emergency. So, lets start off the class.
▪ Modern Alchemy-Modern Alchemy is the branch of Alchemy that has been taught from the
1960’s to the present day, giving us 55 years of pure alchemy.
▪ Now the question arises that why is it called ‘Modern’ alchemy and why is it different from
the alchemy practised before the 1960’s.
▪ This is because of the La Ligue de Alchemists.
You will learn more about the La Ligue de Alchemists in page 4.
2
3. Lesson Plan
We will be covering the following topics today.
–La Ligue De Alchemists
–Laws of Alchemy
–Indication Charm
–The concept of V.I.T.R.I.O.L

• La Ligue de Alchemists
• Its current members
4
5. La Ligue de Alchemists
▪ In 1960, a group known as ‘La Ligue de Alchemists’ got together to discuss the future of
alchemy.
▪ It included members of many different countries:-Australia, China, Egypt, France,
Germany, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Peru, Russia, United Kingdom and United States.
▪ It is somewhat similar to the Muggle United Nations.
▪ Within the UN, there is one President elected by the general representatives of all countries
that are a part of it and here, the President is elected by the General group. The Vice
President is also elected not by the President but by the General Group.
You will learn more about the current members of La Ligue de Alchemists in the next page.
5
6. Current Members of La Ligue de Alchemists

– Committee Member-Vladimir Alvang-Russia
– Committee Member-Tyler Scott-UK 6
7. Laws of Alchemy
In 1960, the committee came up with a set of laws that would help preserve the basic
fundamentals of Alchemy. They are:-
1. You shall never take the life of a fellow Wizard, Muggle or creature for the sake of practise.
2. Never betray a fellow alchemist.
3. Do unto others as they would do to you.
7
8. First Law of Alchemy
▪ The first law of Alchemy states that you should not take the life of a fellow Wizard, Muggle or
creature for the sake of practise.
▪ It says that we should never destroy the pure thing called life. Even if a drop of someone else’s blood
is spilled, your soul starts tarnishing.
▪ Now let’s go into the history and reason beneath this law.
▪ In the summer of 1963, the committee gathered to discuss who the new president would be.
▪ They unanimously elected George Winston from the USA and he was the only member from the
USA to ever become a president.
▪ In the year 1978, a new president was elected.
▪ In the early 80’s there was a committee member who was a dark wizard.
▪ His name was Vigo S.
▪ You will get to know more about him in the next page. 8
9. Vigo S
▪ During the early 80’s, Vigo S, a dark wizard was selected as a committee member by
default.
▪ He knew the rules and knew that he could extend his life by killing other people and
attaching part of himself into an object-by horcruxes.
▪ His last name was never recovered as all the documents with his name were either erased or
burnt.
▪ While he killed four members of the committee he never fully succeeded in extending his
life.
▪ The event happened when there was a summit meeting with the fellow Alchemists. Vigo
enraged and he was slowly losing himself and he decided that it was time to take action
and work on his plan.
▪ Taking out the first four members he saw, the other members fled from the room.
▪ The then Vice President of the committee successfully ended his plot. 9
10. Second Law of Alchemy
▪ The second law of alchemy states that you should never betray your fellow alchemist.
▪ This law was enacted to protect any work that was done as a collaboration within the
Alchemy community, or in general.
▪ This law prevented members from claiming work that was not theirs, or work that was done
in collaboration but no credit was given to other editors.
▪ So, you may ask me how do we know when someone broke that law.
▪ For that, we have a specific charm known as the Indication Charm which was created by the
members of La Ligue de Alchemists.
▪ We will be learning more about this charm later in the lesson.
10
11. Third Law of Alchemy
▪ The third law of alchemy states to do unto others as they would do to you.
▪ This is actually a verse from the holy scripture of the Christians-The Bible.
▪ This just says to treat others with respect and kindness and they will give you back the
same.
▪ So, in the context of Alchemy, it just says that if you break the first and second law, it
may as well happen to you.
▪ So, the way I percept it is it to be somewhat like a warning.
11
13. The Indication Charm
13
▪ The Indication Charm is used to identify the work and it helps to establish the true owner. Its details
are:-
– Incantation-Invenio Veritas
– Pronunciation-(een-vain-EE-oh ver-ee-TAH-suh) Note-Ending ‘uh’ is silent.
– Wand movement-As you see in the diagram (although it is not the best) the object is a clockwise
circle. The black object in the middle is the object in question. So for instance we will say it is a
piece of metal that has a rare transition on it. The blue circle indicates the circle and the red arrow
indicates the clockwise motion.
– Concentration - No concentration is needed. You just need to simply cast the spell with ease.
– Focus - You just need to focus on the pronunciation.
– Summary- If the person brings in any artefact they must first place their wand onto the artefact
before the spell begins. Once the spell is done there are one of two results. A blue burst of light
indicates that the person who brought the piece in is authentic. The piece will simply shoot a small
ball of light into the air. A black burst of light indicates that the person who brought the piece in
is a thief. The artefact will go into a 'defence' mood. It will then shoot out more black light that will
cause the person who stole it to have a imprint of the word "THIEF" on their forehead.

15. V.I.T.R.I.O.L
▪ So, VITRIOL in Latin stands for “Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem”
.
▪ In English, it can be written as "Visit the interior Earth and rectifying you will find the hidden
stone.“
▪ So, in this case, Visit the interior Earth is widely believed to experience a gateway to a higher plane of
existence.
▪ The stone is not something you can just learn about per-say, it is something to be learned by
experience.
▪ When you visit the interior Earth you experience all of life and all of magic. Some believe that when
you 'visit' the interior Earth you are entering the gates of Hell.
▪ Rectifying yourself means you are purifying your soul and cleansing you demons. Believe it or
not, we all have demons.
▪ When one finds the stone they must truly rectify themselves or "absolve" themselves from their
demons.
▪ That is what the whole concept is all about. 15
